BBB's spaceLife on the other side of 50
August 21 Tickets and other nonsense...To answer Jane's question in my comments. Yeehaw! I scored 7th row center tickets to *ZZTop*!! If I had gotten there JUST a little quicker, I would have had 4th or 5th row seats. But I am happy with 7th row!! It is a rather small venue, so they will be quite close. Woohoo!!
I am having a *Premier* jewelry party tonight. I used to sell the stuff, so I need more jewelry like another HOLE in my head. However, the young lady who is selling is just getting a start and is selling to make money to pay doctor bills of her profoundly disabled little girl. I met "L" when I was going to *Weight*Watchers* not long after her little girl was born. They didn't expect the child to make it to one year old. She is now a little past 3 yrs old!! So, the party is for a good cause.
Hubby and I are going camping this weekend. Yay!! So my time on here will be limited unless we can find some WIFI somewhere (which is doubtful). Oh! And we got our old RV sold!! I am doin' the happy dance!! A nice young couple wanted it for their first RV. Hubby made them a heck of a deal.
I hope everyone has a lovely Friday! I'll be back when I can! Love ya'll!
BBB August 18 Still here!Yes, I am still here. I have just not been able to write. Is that called writer's block? I did do a draft entry the other day, but decided not to post it. It just seemed to be a little on the negative side. So, I decided against the post. We had a great time Friday night with hubby's nephews from Colorado and their families. Son-in-law grilled burgers and dogs. I made my mother-in-laws recipes of oriental slaw and also the chocolate sheet cake the whole family loved. They were a definite hit with the fam. It was nice to be able to sit and visit with the wives and to watch all the kids (their kids and my grandkids) play. They ran around and hollered and hopped and jumped and dressed up and watched (?) movies (this one I am not sure of...two of the kids were supposedly watching a movie, but they seemed more interested in making jokes and punching each other). One of the nephew's wives is an interior decorator for high dollar homes in the area where they live. She and I visited and she liked my ideas for the kitchen. My son-in-law swore when we got there to their house for the cookout, that he was indeed in cabinet building mode. Same song, thirty-second verse. I will believe it when I see it. Saturday night we had a great time with the Gypsy. She fixed some wonderful shish kabobs. Yummmy! And I had cake left from the previous night which I took. I had several nice glasses of wine, a nice dinner, yummy dessert, and a great visit with my friend. So, it was an all around good evening. The weather here has been unseasonably cool and nice in the evenings. I am loving it! Thus, it has been perfect cookout weather. While it wasn't a spectacular weekend, it was a calm, laid back one and I enjoyed it. Wednesday, I am going to try to score us some *ZZTop* tickets. They are having a "pre-sale" at 10 a.m. so I am going to buzz out of the office JUST long enough to get tickets. Other than that, nothing much exciting going on here this week. I will try to get on here later in the week. Okie dokie? Ya'll have a good week! BBB August 12 This 'n that...Well here we are almost halfway through the week. It will be Friday before we can blink. I guess my life is just way too busy. That's what our daughter tells us. What can she mean?? Just because we have forgotten our wedding anniversary before. I mean, hasn't everyone done that? No, you say?? Well, we only did that once. And in our defense, I had been in South America for a week the week prior to that. I was moving on about one cylinder. But, I don't know what rock I have been hiding under such that I missed a major news event. Our conversation at dinner went something like this: Hubby: Did you hear about the trial for *Victoria*Osteen*? Me: What the heck are you talking about? Hubby: Her trial started today. Me: For what? Hubby: She supposedly attacked a flight attendant over a spill on the arm of her chair in first class which wasn't cleaned up to her satisfaction. You mean you haven't heard about this? Me: I didn't have a clue. So I immediately had to come home and *Google* her. I have, from time to time watched and enjoyed her husband's sermons. I never would have thought of her as a preacher's wifezilla. But I could be wrong. I do know they are extremely wealthy due to pastoring a church of 60,000 members. Who knows where the truth lies. But I kinda have a feeling the flight attendant is "suffering" from "she has too much moneyitis" being as she is asking for 10% of *Osteen's* net worth. For her post traumatic stress and her loss of faith (for good measure). I guess I am way too busy if something like that goes unnoticed by me. In other news. I, along with my co-worker in our other office, am trying to set up a birthday luncheon for our boss. His birthday is next week. I am doing this even though no one in our other office even said so much as "kiss my grits" to me on MY birthday. Yeah. I am taking the high road here. I guess I should be used to this. One year when they had the June birthday cake (supposedly for everyone who has a June birthday), they failed to even INVITE me. So it should NOT have surprised me that not ONE PERSON even said happy birthday....even though I have worked with these people for some 15 years now. But the boss SHALL get a birthday lunch, dang it!! And he will enJOY it if it kills me. We read in today's paper that my sister-in-law's mother passed away. Yes. We read it in the paper. She has been here for a couple of weeks, as have hubby's nephews. No one let us know Mrs. D was that bad. Hubby's brother figured they called us, so he didn't either. We will be going to the visitation and service. I can just figure that my SIL had so much going on that she just didn't think to call. It's a hard time when you lose your Momma, as I well know. Lastly, we will be having dinner with the Gypsy this Saturday. I always love having dinner with her because she always has some story or another about something going on in her life (which has been a lot more interesting than mine). Well, that is all of this 'n that. I hope you all have a lovely hump day! Toodles! BBB New blog friend....One of the things I LOVE to do is cruise around and visit other people's blogs. OTHER people's lives fascinate me, especially when they live in different parts of the country. A new blog friend of mine is found over at twentyfouratheart.typepad.com. I have really enjoyed visiting this nice lady who lives in the OC. I love to read her observations regarding the people who live in the OC (and how different many of their lives are from mine). My new friend also is writing about her process of recovering from her devastating car accident. She is a brave and wonderful woman. And she's pretty doggone funny too!
If you get a moment, cruise on over and visit twentyfour! I think you will love her blog. AND, she is hosting a simple and fun contest for which the prize will be a Fifty Dollar American Express Gift Card! Now, who couldn't use one of THOSE!! So, stop on by, leave twentyfour a comment or two and enjoy! Tell her BBB sent ya!!
Hugs to you all!
BBB August 10 Lazy Sunday....Yeah. I should have my bad self in church this morning. But I didn't have the heart to wake hubby up. He had such a busy week and because of the heat he was up and out by 5:30 or 6:00 every morning to beat the heat. So, I let him sleep this morning, fielding the dogs who needed potty breaks and feeding. I had just sat down to eat a really nice bowl of fresh peaches and I heard it. The sound of the Weimie getting sick. Oh JOY!! Just what I love to do on a Sunday morning. I told you I should have had my bad self in church! Then I would have had to clean up after the Weimie after getting home. It has been kind of a quiet weekend. I had a luncheon with three ladies I went to church with way back when....we were young and single. A number of us have kept in touch all these years and we try to get together regularly. So, yesterday four of us had a really nice visit and lunch. Outside of that, we have had the Olympics playing pretty much non-stop on the big screen. My faves are the swimming and indoor volleyball. I watch the rest, but those are my favorites. I am so thankful that we have had a little rain and some cooler temperatures these last few days. What a blessed relief it has been. I would have sat out on the patio, but I fear the mosquitos which are HUGE this year. Hubby is stirring from a nap so I guess I will hop off here. We are going to take my old computer and desk to my great niece. She will be using it for her school work this year (and her *Myspace* page too I'm sure!!). I hope everyone has had a great weekend! Toodles! BBB
