I am having a *Premier* jewelry party tonight. I used to sell the stuff, so I need more jewelry like another HOLE in my head. However, the young lady who is selling is just getting a start and is selling to make money to pay doctor bills of her profoundly disabled little girl. I met "L" when I was going to *Weight*Watchers* not long after her little girl was born. They didn't expect the child to make it to one year old. She is now a little past 3 yrs old!! So, the party is for a good cause.

Hubby and I are going camping this weekend. Yay!! So my time on here will be limited unless we can find some WIFI somewhere (which is doubtful). Oh! And we got our old RV sold!! I am doin' the happy dance!! A nice young couple wanted it for their first RV. Hubby made them a heck of a deal.

I hope everyone has a lovely Friday! I'll be back when I can! Love ya'll!

Ya'll have a good week!
BBB

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-08-19T02:34:07Z</dcterms:modified>

This 'n that...

Well here we are almost halfway through the week. It will be Friday before we can blink. I guess my life is just way too busy. That's what our daughter tells us. What can she mean?? Just because we have forgotten our wedding anniversary before. I mean, hasn't everyone done that? No, you say?? Well, we only did that once. And in our defense, I had been in South America for a week the week prior to that. I was moving on about one cylinder.
But, I don't know what rock I have been hiding under such that I missed a major news event. Our conversation at dinner went something like this:
Hubby: Did you hear about the trial for *Victoria*Osteen*?
Me: What the heck are you talking about?
Hubby: Her trial started today.
Me: For what?
Hubby: She supposedly attacked a flight attendant over a spill on the arm of her chair in first class which wasn't cleaned up to her satisfaction. You mean you haven't heard about this?
Me: I didn't have a clue.
So I immediately had to come home and *Google* her. I have, from time to time watched and enjoyed her husband's sermons. I never would have thought of her as a preacher's wifezilla. But I could be wrong. I do know they are extremely wealthy due to pastoring a church of 60,000 members. Who knows where the truth lies. But I kinda have a feeling the flight attendant is "suffering" from "she has too much moneyitis" being as she is asking for 10% of *Osteen's* net worth. For her post traumatic stress and her loss of faith (for good measure).
I guess I am way too busy if something like that goes unnoticed by me.
In other news. I, along with my co-worker in our other office, am trying to set up a birthday luncheon for our boss. His birthday is next week. I am doing this even though no one in our other office even said so much as "kiss my grits" to me on MY birthday. Yeah. I am taking the high road here. I guess I should be used to this. One year when they had the June birthday cake (supposedly for everyone who has a June birthday), they failed to even INVITE me. So it should NOT have surprised me that not ONE PERSON even said happy birthday....even though I have worked with these people for some 15 years now. But the boss SHALL get a birthday lunch, dang it!! And he will enJOY it if it kills me.
We read in today's paper that my sister-in-law's mother passed away. Yes. We read it in the paper. She has been here for a couple of weeks, as have hubby's nephews. No one let us know Mrs. D was that bad. Hubby's brother figured they called us, so he didn't either. We will be going to the visitation and service. I can just figure that my SIL had so much going on that she just didn't think to call. It's a hard time when you lose your Momma, as I well know.
Lastly, we will be having dinner with the Gypsy this Saturday. I always love having dinner with her because she always has some story or another about something going on in her life (which has been a lot more interesting than mine).
Well, that is all of this 'n that. I hope you all have a lovely hump day!
Toodles!
BBB

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-08-13T01:39:04Z</dcterms:modified>

New blog friend....

One of the things I LOVE to do is cruise around and visit other people's blogs. OTHER people's lives fascinate me, especially when they live in different parts of the country. A new blog friend of mine is found over at twentyfouratheart.typepad.com. I have really enjoyed visiting this nice lady who lives in the OC. I love to read her observations regarding the people who live in the OC (and how different many of their lives are from mine). My new friend also is writing about her process of recovering from her devastating car accident. She is a brave and wonderful woman. And she's pretty doggone funny too!

If you get a moment, cruise on over and visit twentyfour! I think you will love her blog. AND, she is hosting a simple and fun contest for which the prize will be a Fifty Dollar American Express Gift Card! Now, who couldn't use one of THOSE!! So, stop on by, leave twentyfour a comment or two and enjoy! Tell her BBB sent ya!!

Hugs to you all!

Hugs!
BBB

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-07-27T04:05:06Z</dcterms:modified>

Anniversary....

This weekend, actually Sunday, is hubby's and my 12th anniversary!! I cannot tell you how fortunate I feel to be married to my wonderful husband. That he has put up with me for 12 years is amazing. I must admit that I am probably NOT the easiest person to live with. It's not that I am witchy or moody, but it's more that I have lots of "blonde" moments, and when I am not having "blonde" moments, I am now at the age that I have my "senior" moments. And I know that sometimes it gets on hubby's last nerve. Are either of us perfect? Not by a long shot. Has this marriage taken work? Heck yeah. But I can honestly say that if I had it to do ALL over again, I would marry him again. I think we are working on a good life together. And honestly, there is no one I would rather hang out with at any time, more than my hubby. He is a one in a million!! How I got so lucky, I cannot say. But I do feel blessed to be married to him. He's handsome, smart, funny, talented, wonderful and has a heart bigger than Texas.

So, honey, (I know he's a pretty regular reader of my blog)....thanks for the twelve years we have had. Thanks for putting up with me!! I know I have to have added at LEAST a few grey hairs to your head. But I love you more than you will ever know!! You're the BEST!!

To all my blog buddies, have a GREAT weekend! I love ya'll!

We (that would include the dogs, of course) slept in the RV last night and it actually got cold with the air conditioner and a couple of fans. That is the most comfortable bed out there. I slept like a rock!!

And he is just a wonderful man, and an amazing Dad. I feel so fortunate to still have him in my life.
Well, friends, wish us luck!!
Till next time...
BBB

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-07-21T00:27:00Z</dcterms:modified>

Hole in the head...

When I was growing up, I cannot tell you how often I heard my Momma say "You need <insert whatEVER it was she did NOT want you to do or have> like a HOLE IN THE HEAD!! Momma probably would be shaking her head, because I got TWO more holes in the head. Yepper!! I did, in fact, go and get new piercings in my ears. I was really wanting to be able to wear more of my earrings. When I got home from Affair of the Heart I mentioned to hubby that there was one thing I hadn't accomplished today that I wanted to. Getting the new piercings. He said "Yeah...I read about that on your blog!" So he IS keeping up with this thing. hehehe SO, anywho, hubby actually TOOK me to the mall, watched as I picked out earrings, and got two new holes in my head. And I didn't event CRY!! ;) The OTHER bonus??? He PAID for said piercings!! Wooohooo!! Can't beat a deal like that with a stick. Now, for the next six weeks, I promised, cross-my-heart, that I would faithfully clean the new holes in my head with their antiseptic stuff. I had to SIGN a paper PROMISING, that I would do that. Actually, I signed this paper in NO less than six places. Talk about covering yourself from liability. The lady who did the piercing was a HOOT! She had multiple tattoos and a NOSE RING. She asked if I wanted one of those and I very politely, but firmly told her no. With allergies like mine?? How fun would THAT be trying to blow my nose with a nose ring. After the piercing, hubby and I had to wait a few minutes for them to ring up my "purchase." I must look REALLY young today because the little sales clerk, who couldn't have been more than 16 or 17, didn't call me "ma'am".....she called me "sweetie." I think I would have preferred "ma'am" coming from her, but I decided to take it as a compliment.
As I said above, I did make it out to Affair of the Heart. My middle sister, my niece (her daughter) and her two daughters all met out there. It was absolutely PACKED, which is great because the Heart Association is the beneficiary of this craft show. Anywho, we had a great time. We shopped till we were worn out and our dogs were barkin'. I bought a couple of things; a new pair of flip flops and some of the Amish baked goods (a mini peach pie and snickerdoodles which are my faves). Outside of that, I helped my great-niece purchase a really cute shirt and the other great niece a pair of shorts, a mini doll and a pair of flip flops. I think I won't have to talk very persuasively to get my middle sister to go with me next time. I do have to say that I cannot even remember the last time I ever went shopping with my middle sister. I really enjoyed spending the time with her.
This evening, hubby and I went out to Riverwalk and ate at the Italian bistro there. They have the best pizza with hand tossed crust and wonderful sauce and toppings. So, it has been a wonderful day all-in-all. Truly enjoyable, even if it was SO doggone hot and humid today that you could have fried an egg on the sidewalk!! I have to keep reminding myself that it IS July in Oklahoma. It is supposed to be hot. Our thermometer on the patio said 100 degrees this afternoon. Summer has really arrived for sure.
Well, my friends, I hope that you all are having a great weekend. Take care! Hugs to you!
BBB

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-07-20T02:59:35Z</dcterms:modified>

Ramblings....

This summer has just been flying by and there are a number of things I still want to do before the summer is over.
My friend, the Gypsy, is wanting us to go camping on the river like we did a couple of summers ago. Gypsy is fun WHEREVER we go, so I would like to figure out a time to do this. Also, if we go where she wants, there is a MAN she has been flirting with for a while now. She is reluctant to introduce herself to him. I was kinda thinkin' that I might just have to "facilitate" or "help along" this matter somehow. First, I have to check this guy out and make sure he is worthy of the Gypsy. Not just ANY man is. She is a wonderful, beautiful, talented, funny lady who deserves to have a man who will treat her like a queen. Has she EVER had this in her life? NO!! Not even once has a man treated her decently. So, we need to check this new guy out a little. A couple of summers ago we camped out on the river with Gypsy and it was a wonderful time. I would like to do that again.
I am going to go to visit BFF the end of this month. Her hubby is going to be gone so it will be a GIRLS ONLY weekend. Woooohoooo!! Don't get me wrong. We love our hubbies, but we like to have girls only time whenever we can. And, to make it even better, BFF's Momma is going to join us for a day or so. This is my "other Mother" and I love her dearly. It will be so wonderful to see her. I told bestie that we are gonna lay around, watch movies, visit and eat bon bons!! Oh, and we are gonna shop till we drop!! I cannot wait!!
The other thing that needs to be planned is a vacay for hubby and me. We usually go camping for a week. I am not sure where we are going to go or when (it will depend on when we get the new RV slide fixed), but I am sure we will get away somewhere during August before hubby's business gets really busy again.
This weekend, I plan on once again attending the *Affair of the Heart*, which is an arts and crafts show which benefits the Heart Association. Over the years, I have gotten some great things at this show. So, I look forward to wandering out and seeing what's there that I might not be able to live without.
Also, I am thinking about getting another piercing in my ears. I only have one piercing in each ear. I would like to get one more so I can wear some more of my fave earrings. I might do that this weekend as well.
Other than that folks, my life is pretty quiet right now. I hate to even say that lest all "you know WHAT" break loose again. I will say that life is good and I am blessed.
You all take care! Hugs to you!!
BBB

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-07-16T02:01:12Z</dcterms:modified>

It's all good....

Yes. The weekend did definitely improve. I scored me a couple of books at the book fair for a buck apiece, and got ALL my watches in for repair/batteries. In case I hadn't mentioned it. I collect watches. It is what I do and I have all kinds. I had twelve watches to take in to the jeweler. He needed to fix or replace two bands and put new batteries in ALL of them so they are all on the same page....i.e.....running. I have my eye on a new watch over at Riverwalk. I have hinted that it would be a good anniversary present....but I don't know if hubby is going to bite on that one.. It was FAIRLY expensive. But I DO wear my watches a lot. It is not like they sit in a drawer forever or something.
Anywho. It is an absolutely gorgeous morning here. We had rain and storms last night (not too severe here, but I heard they played havoc at Rocklahoma*). When I stepped out on the patio this morning to let the critters out, it was cloudy and cool. Just lovely!
Weimie dog is feeling better thank goodness. The medicine seems to be helping. I am SO glad because I cannot stand to see one of my babies in pain. Since she isn't feeling too well, she has turned into a "Momma's dog." She has hung near to my every move while most times, she is hubby's shadow.
I got to see my two beautiful granddaughters yesterday. The four year old was SO excited to see us. She is just such a happy, bubbly child. And she is ALWAYS in a dress. She will not wear pants or shorts. It just isn't happening. Even in winter, it's a dress and leggings, but always a dress. She is just a girlie girl and I adore her.
The almost 14 year old is another story. She will be fourteen in a couple of weeks. And she looks at least 18 except in her height. I am not sure if she has even reach 5 feet yet. I kind of don't think so. But she looks so much older, if you know what I mean. Most girls in my day just weren't built like these young girls today. She came out in short shorts and a tank top. She looked cute, but SO grownup. The cheer team has decided that K will be their "flyer" for all the cheers. Since she is the littlest and quite agile, it is a logical move. But it scares the crap outta me. I have heard TOO many horror stories. She will be attending a special camp to learn how to do all the stunts safely. I know we will be attending some of her games come fall, but I am a little nervous about this. I guess the best I can do is say a little prayer that she "flies" safely!
As usual, we didn't get to see my grandson. He was at his Dad's. He has been spending some extra time there because his Dad's younger sister passed away last week from cancer. So our daughter is making sure T gets plenty of time with the family. He's a really good kid and is really funny. So I am sure they are glad to have him around.
We had a good visit with our daughter and SIL. He is such a funny guy and tells a story like no one I have ever known. He regaled us with stories about his growing up years and the adventures his family had in their motor home. The stories were absolutely hilarious. I did hit him up about my cabinets. I figure if I do this often enough, he will eventually get them done.
We didn't sell the trailer yesterday, but we have a guy coming by shortly to look at it. Hopefully, we will get it sold soon, but we shall see.
Well, I am going to be a lazy woman today for the most part. I have new books to read and a couple of new movies to watch. I intend to stay in where it's cool and just relax.
Till next time, my friends....
BBB

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-07-13T14:30:27Z</dcterms:modified>

It will get better....

So far, the only way for the weekend to get...is better. We have gotten off to a rocky start. But I am determined that it shall not be a bad weekend. I am positive. It will. Here's a run down on Friday.
1. Weimy dog is not feeling well Fri. morning and whimpers when she moves. Hubby took her to the vet and she must have pulled a muscle. She is on meds for this, which we started last night. She is already better today.
2. At lunchtime, I walk out back with the dogs and find a dead mole that Sambo has killed. I call hubby and tell him I AM NOT touching it.
3. I screwed up a deed for a closing, which deed I sent and had pre-signed by the party who could not attend the closing. They didn't call and tell me so I could e-mail them another. Oh no. They sign it as is and bring it to the closing. It wasn't an unfixable error, but was embarrassing. In my defense, the part I screwed up? I used what was in the title opinion that was rendered by one of our attorneys. You would figure that was correct. Right??
3.5. I forgot this one. When I got home hubby informs me that he got the Waverunners* out of the shop. He said that the one he was trying to have fixed is still NOT running and he doesn't want to talk about it. My take on this?? We have a couple thousand dollar BOAT ANCHOR sitting in the back yard.
4. We went camping. Notice that past tense?? We get ALL the way to the campground. First thing off the bat, hubby is going to camp at the PULL through pad that he camped in ALL BY HIMSELF two weeks ago. Usually, you just PULL THROUGH. But not last night. After about a dozen tries, during which time he had to stop and have a "discussion" with me about how he couldn't see me directing him in his mirrors, ALL witnessed by a family of 8 or so campers trying to have a nice quiet dinner, he gets the RV where he wants it.
5. Push the button for the slide which opens up the living area...and nothing happens. NADA. Hubs says try again. Nothing. Electric is hooked up properly. Try again. Nothing. He sets to work trying to fix it. In the process he cut his hand pretty badly on a screw that was sticking out, and bled profusely. He tried the hand crank that you are supposed to be able to use if the electric button fails. NADA. Hubby breaks something in the hand crank mechanism while trying to get that to work. Since the living area is NOT livable without the slide out, we pack up the dogs and head home.
6. On the way home, a truck pulls up next to us and I thought he said we lost a gas can. (We were pulling the Waverunners* behind the RV. We may as well use the one the runs. Right?) Anywho, hubby pulls off the BUSY highway onto the shoulder. It seems that the trailer on which the Waverunners* set has COME LOOSE from the RV hitch!!! We are so lucky nothing happened. Hubby secured them and we went on home.
Needless to say, it was VERY disappointing as we had looked forward to camping ALL WEEK. But, we made it home pretty much intact except for hubby's hand which he informed me a few minutes ago is THROBBING. The new RV is sitting in my front yard (bet the neighbors LOVE that) and when hubs gets around, it is being taken to the dealership for repair. Thank GOODNESS it is under the warranty we bought when we got it.
Oh. And this.
7. This morning Weimie dog finds where hubby didn't pick up the dead mole.....and ROLLS AROUND IN IT!! Can you say EEEWWWWWWW!!! I had to bathe her with baby shampoo.
On a GOOD note. We MAY have the old camper sold. I am hoping so because it is sitting in my driveway until it finds a new home.
I am BOUND and DETERMINED that the rest of the weekend is gonna be good though. First up? I am going to fix my "camping" breakfast. Coffee with french vanilla cappucino, orange juice, and hubby's famous scrambled eggs. THEN, I am going to go to a book fair. THEN, I hope to see my grandkids (who I haven't seen in WAY WAY too long). I'll keep you posted.
You all have a GREAT day!! I plan on doing so for sure!
BBB

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-07-12T13:47:37Z</dcterms:modified>

Aches and pains...

As I said in my previous post, part of the reason I started this blog was to give a glimpse into the life of someone just over the age of fifty. One of the things that I personally have noticed, and I will say here that probably not EVERY over fifty year old person will notice this, is that I have more aches and pains. It is cloudy and rainy here today and I have noticed that when fronts go through, or are about to go through that my "problem joints" are just like a barometer. I have a bad left knee which is the result of two surgeries I have had on it due to my supreme klutzyness. Yes, my friends. BBB can, indeed, trip over a crack in the sidewalk. Literally. In my thirties that is just what I did while running and NOT paying attention. I will say, in my defense, that I was in an OLD neighborhood, and the paved sidewalk was VERY uneven with some areas sunk a few inches, while others were not. But the fact remains that I tripped....and tore a ligament. I can also FALL down a flight of about eight concrete steps onto a concrete walkway, landing on my knee. Which I did a few years back...re-tearing the aforementioned ligament. Yes. I am the supreme majesty of all klutzes!! So, these years later, the knee, having been repaird twice, will ache as it did this morning when I arose from my slumber. Also, of trouble, is my right shoulder which I injured lifting trays of fried pies at a part time job I took after my divorce. In my defense again here, these were HUGE trays. I ended up with an "impinged" rotator cuff...whatever THAT is. And surgery resulted. And the shoulder aches as well when the weather changes.

My advice? Don't be a klutz like moi!! Getting older is NOT for sissies!! I want this rainy damp weather to go away!!

Till later folks!!

BBB (a/k/a Grace) hehehe

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-07-09T17:00:13Z</dcterms:modified>

Tagged.....

I have been tagged by my dear friend Pat. It seems she wants to know a little more about me. So, Pat, this is for you, my friend!!
WHAT WERE YOU DOING 10 YEARS AGO:
(Scratching my head and thinking really hard)...As best I remember (and it is a little foggy here) I was just about two years into a new marriage. Yes. I was a newly wed. I was working the same job that I am now and wondering how in the world I ended up with such a measly paycheck. I didn't like the pay, but I loved the people I was working with. So I stayed. And I am still staying. I learned that pay is NOT everything. It's nice when it is higher, but if it is higher and you work with buttheads, well, what's the use in a big paycheck. It truly does not buy happiness. I know that's not six things....but it's all I've got.
WHAT SIX THINGS ARE ON MY TO-DO LIST FOR TODAY:
Well I really don't do "to-do" lists or any other kinds of lists. I am a notorious un-list making, unorganized person. On my tombstone someday it might read: "She shoulda made a list!!" But my plans today were as follows:
Make French Toast. I know. What the heck is that about? We got this really nice THICK cut bread last night with our barbeque and we don't ever eat it. But my first thought upon pulling it out of the sack was....EUREKA!! FRENCH TOAST in the morning baby!! And I did do that and it was YUMMMMMYYYYYY!!
Veg and take it easy.
Go see my Dad.
Veg and take a nap.
ummm.....Do anything possible to keep from cooking today.
Unload the dishwasher. Now isn't that just too exciting??
Here's one Pat forgot:
SNACKS I ENJOY:
Chips and queso.
Chips and guacamole.
Chips and hot sauce.
Cake. Any kind of cake. Give Me Cake!!
New Milky Way Midnight (dark chocolate) candy bar. (Have you had one of these??? They are TO DIE FOR GOOD!!!)
Chips and dip. (Are we seeing a pattern here??)
THINGS I WOULD DO IF I WERE A BILLIONAIRE:
I would make sure all my family members and friends were taken care of (houses, cars that run, trust funds, etc).
I would buy as many thousands of acres of woodlands as I could afford and not let ONE single person build on them, or cut down a tree. Ever!! It would be a sanctuary for wildlife.
I would donate money to causes that help battered and abused women and children, and homeless people, and animals, and stem cell research.
I would buy me a big, huge yacht and live on that and travel around the world as many times as I wanted. I would travel, travel, travel!!
I know that's not six things either....but I really don't know what else I would like to do.
PLACES I HAVE LIVED:
I named my blog for two things:
1. One of my childhood "nicknames".....i.e. bbubblesbest. and
2. For the time in which I find myself in life...i.e. the other side of fifty. I really wanted to give a glimpse into the life of a person who has hit the big Five-Oh!! I am not sure if I have done that. But I have tried.
WHO AM I TAGGING?:
I think pretty much everyone has been tagged by now. But if not, consider yourself tagged and get to it!! hehehe
Cya later folks!
BBB

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-07-06T20:39:44Z</dcterms:modified>

Lazy holiday morning...

Yes. It is a lazy holiday Saturday morning around the BBB household. We had a nice, although admittedly quiet fourth. We didn't get to see the kids and grandkids as they had other plans. So hubby and I just did a few things around here in the way of straightening and tidying up the place. We are having the couple who introduced us over for the evening this evening. We had lunch at Ruby*Tuesdays* which is one of my fave places. If you haven't ever eaten there, they have the most wonderful salad bar EVER. And I got their marvelous chicken pot pie.
Last night, we loaded up Piper and our folding chairs and headed out to RiverWalk*. Our guys, G-Note* were playing their usual good music, and there was to be a fireworks display over the river. There was actually a nice breeze going for most of the evening and the temps didn't feel like the 90's that they were. Let me say that NOTHING stopped the crowds from streaming in. The only complaint I ever have about RiverWalk* is their lack of adequate parking, and ways in and out. It is a NIGHTMARE!! As I was watching all these people stream in, I knew it was going to be a headache getting out. No doubt about it. But, we were enjoying ourselves, so I just put that thought in my back pocket and rocked on.
The fireworks display was WONDERFUL!! The owners of RiverWalk evidently didn't get the bulletin that there was a shortage of fireworks (it was even reported on the world wide web*), or that fireworks were WAY expensive this year because of that. Nope. They put on a 30 minute, spectacular display which was even more beautiful given the reflection of the fireworks in the river.
Getting home was the nightmare I knew it would be. It took us almost an hour just to get out of the parking area. Can you say....aaarrrrggghhhh!! But, I was glad that we went anyway. We just sat in the car waiting our turn and watched the crazy people. hehehe
This morning has been a lazy one. Both hubby and I slept in a little. I got up a little while ago, put on a pot of coffee, and then went out on our beautiful patio that hubby built me. He cleaned it off yesterday. I have some pictures. Here we go:
These are my hydrangeas, which are very happy right now. They were a start from some my Momma had had in her garden since I was about 13.

The rest of the pictures are just showing our lovely patio. I think hubby did a good job of making this an inviting space. It is a little hot right now, so we don't use it quite as much. But as the weather cools a little, we use it a lot. We have a chiminea and a little fireplace. The hubby has moved the fireplace (it's portable) and I don't know where he is going to put it. But they are both nice as the weather cools.
filled with raspberry jam. It was marvelous. And I bought a bag of dark chocolate covered orange rinds. Yummmmmm!!! This was primo chocolate!!
Each of us found a little something to buy and we just had a great visit and lunch. I got some nice presents. It was a nice birthday celebration with two long time friends!
Well, I am gonna get off here for now. You all have a great week!!
BBB

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-06-30T01:42:21Z</dcterms:modified>

Special moment...

Here is the story I promised to tell you. One of the cousins who attended the reunion was "M". M is the only daughter of my Daddy's youngest sister. When M was born, I was about 5 or 6 years old. Whenever my Aunt and Uncle would bring M to my Grandma's, she was like my living baby doll. I carried her around everywhere. Through the years M and I became good friends. But we became particularly close when M was about 21 years old. I remember getting a call from my Daddy to tell me that my Aunt, M's Momma, had been killed in a car wreck. It seems that she and my Uncle were driving home on a road they traveled many times a day, when they were hit head-on by a drunk driver. My Aunt was killed instantly. My Uncle who was driving, was badly injured. I got hold of my bosses and told them that I needed to head out and be with my family. It turns out that I spent over a week just doing what I could to help. Since my Uncle was injured and in the hospital, it fell to my cousin M to make all the arrangements that come with a death in the family. Cousin M and my Aunt were particularly close and M did not get along very well with my Uncle. My Aunt was always the "buffer" between the two of them. So, the loss of my Aunt was even more devastating to M. She lost not only her Momma, she lost her best friend, the person she always turned to who always seemed to be her refuge. I didn't do anything extraordinary during that difficult time, but just made sure that M had loving support. Over the years since then, I have been the one in the family that M has turned to whenever she has been in a crisis. I have received calls over the years as M has lived her life, married, divorced, moved numerous times, raised her kids, etc. I am the one person in the family that can talk to M very directly, not being judgmental, but just telling her what I thought. Mind you, I only did this when SHE called me asking for my opinions. I never pulled any punches. But I think I could do that because M has ALWAYS known that I love her no matter what. Have I been frustrated with her over the years?? Heck yeah. But I love her nonetheless.
Fast forward to the reunion. We were all just hanging out at my Uncle's house and visiting. We were looking at pictures from a picture album that M had that was once her Momma's. It had some really wonderful family pics in it that I had never seen. At one point M motioned to me that she wanted to talk to me privately. So we went into another room. There, she proceeded to hand me a note. It turns out that this note was written to M from our other Aunt who is still living. I didn't have my glasses on, so I couldn't read it well, but the gist of the note was that my Aunt sent something to M that had at one time been my Grandma's and then at some point Grandma gave it to M's Momma. I am not sure how Aunt H came to be in possession of this item, but she evidently had had it a long while. M said that Aunt H wanted her to have this particular item since she did not have much in the way of her Momma's belongings. (This would be because my Uncle, M's Dad, married not even 6 months after my Aunt's death, and the step-monster had taken ALL of my Aunt's things and would not give any of them to M. Real sweet lady, huh?). M then handed me a little square of the taped up corner of an envelope. When I looked inside there was....a locket. A very OLD locket. It had what appeared to be a Mother of Pearl face, and was shaped like a book. When I opened the locket, there were pictures. Pictures of my Daddy, my Aunt (the one who is still living) and all my Uncles, all as young adults. I was amazed. I had never seen this locket before. M looked at me as I looked at the locket in wonder, and she told me that she wanted ME to have the locket. I was just STUNNED. I told her that I just could not take something like this when I knew that she had so few of her Momma's belongings. M told me that she really wanted me to have the locket. She said I have always been there for her, that I had personally known all my uncles whose pictures were in the locket, and she had never even met a couple of them. I was so moved I cannot tell you. I busted into tears. I told her I had never been given a gift that had moved me as much as this locket. I just have to say that it was one of the most special moments I have ever experienced. It was MOST humbling to know that M loves me that much. So, there you have it. That very special moment I shall never forget. I will try to post a picture of the locket at some point. I know. I am still in the process of getting the posting of pictures down. Anywho, I am the proud owner of the locket. I just love it. It isn't an expensive locket as my Grandma was not a "well-off" person. But it might as well be solid gold for what it means to me. It holds precious memories of precious people in my family.
I am well and truly blessed!
BBB

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-06-26T01:26:55Z</dcterms:modified>

She knows me too well....

I bopped over here a little bit ago to check my blog and noticed that my friend Tricia left a comment on my post about my birthday yesterday. She said something to the effect that I probably had bread pudding. BINGO!! That girl knows me too well! Hubby did take me to Charlstons, where I had a filet steak (which I rarely ever eat), a baked potato and salad. I then indulged in the best bread pudding I ever tasted!! Woooohoooo!! After the meal I waddled....errr walked to the car and we headed home. Hubby would have taken me anywhere I wanted to go, but I was quite happy and content to just go home. I got lovely flowers yesterday from the hubby as well and he also bought me a birthday cake from my favorite bakery. When I was growing up, a BAKERY bought cake was a very special treat. There was a bakery right next to our church and they made then, and still do make, my favorite cakes. I don't know what they do that is different, but it's just white cake and decorative icing. But they both taste so much better than white cakes at any other bakery. Anywho, hubby went to that bakery for my cake. I also got numbers of phone calls from my family and friends. So, it was a good birthday!!

Tomorrow, I am going to be keeping Piper's cousin (who was bought by the man and woman who office down the hall from me at work). Her name is Mia and she is absolutely adorable!! I had told them that I would be happy to keep Mia for them so they would not have to kennel her. So, for the next four days, Piper will have a playmate. I just hope she plays NICE!!! She is MUCH bigger than Mia. I may end up being more of a referee, but I hope not.

BFF is coming in Friday night, I think, and will be staying with me. We will get with our friend "R" who also has a June birthday, and spend the day together on Saturday. Hubby is pulling the new RV out for a solo camp. No wife. No grandkids. No dogs. I told him I thought that would be good for him. It recharges his batteries like nothing else. He can eat, sleep, watch movies, eat some more and sleep some more, build him a fire, be a slob (NOT), whatever. He can just chill. He will come back a refreshed man.

I will be working on my post of the story about a sweet moment at the reunion here in the next few days. Not sure when, but I have not forgotten. I will get it posted. I hope all my blog friends are having a great week!

Hugs to you till next time!

Well, friends, I am going to hop off here and start getting ready for work. Doggone birthday falling on a Tuesday!! Oh well. My biggest decision today will be, where do I want to go for din din. Hubby told me to decide. Yaaaaaay!!
Ya'll have a good day, okie dokie?? I know I will!!
I got to meet one of my cousin's new fiance. Talk about a fire-cracker!! This girl is just adorable, and so smart and funny!! I knew my aunt had said that they just fell in love with "S" from the get-go. Now, I know why!! I cannot wait till she is officially part of the family and I truly look forward to seeing her again. If we get an invite to the wedding, I will make every effort to go!!
Well, I guess I better get busy with some chores around here. I hope all my blog friends have a GREAT week. Oh....and I have another blog post coming about something really sweet that happened at the reunion. I will tell about it in a separate post.
Till then, ya'll take care now, you hear??
BBB

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-06-24T02:19:22Z</dcterms:modified>

Heavenly....

It is a little after 8:00 on Saturday morning. I am sitting here in the recliner, laptop in my lap, coffee brewing, listening to the sounds of the birds and the other campers beginning to stir, hubby snoring...err ahem....forget that last part. It is a quiet, albeit a little cloudy morning in the Ozarks. Last night was our first night in the new RV. I gotta say, I slept like a log!! That is the most comfortable bed!! Usually, when we camp, unless I am extremely tired, the first night in camp is not a banner night for sleep (at least for me). Hubby can sleep anyWHERE, anyTIME. MEN!! Hhmmpphh!! But I digress. The new RV makes things like sounds of other campers SO much quieter. And I likey that!! So, I was in dreamland moments after my head hit the pillow.
I am looking out our back window at a wooded area that has lovely wildflowers peaking through the dense brush. I also have a new pet bug on the window. It is small and green and has LOVELY gossamer wings. It is trying so hard to get to the lovely greenery outside, but, alas, there is a window pane between it and it's desired place to be. I may try to see if I can get a piece of paper and coax it onto it so I can set it free. Usually, I smash bugs. It depends on the type. Most bugs are NOT my friend. But THIS one is just so pretty and on a quiet Saturday in the mountains, it is my FRIEND!! Lucky for it, it is pretty, or it would be history!
I hear hubby stirring around. Even though I pulled the bedroom door closed, I am sure he is probably smelling that hypnotic smell of freshly brewed coffee. I am pretty sure I will see his sweet face soon. His favorite coffee cup and vanilla cappucino mix are sitting there waiting for him. Aren't I just a great little camp wife? I know he will stir around for SURE when I begin frying the bacon!! If the coffee didn't get him, the bacon surely will!!
Well, I must get back to my bug gazing, and my woods gazing (the sun is now peaking through), and I need to contemplate life a little. It is what I do when I camp. I guess it is better than picking my toes or something. hehehe I am loving my little slice of heaven. I hope you, my blog friends, are having a good weekend. Oh, and you nightowls (and you know who you are), thanks for dropping by to say hi!!
Hugs to you all!
BBB

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-06-21T13:27:18Z</dcterms:modified>

Hello from the Ozarks!

We made it to Branson and to our campsite by about 1:30 today. The campsite is just about a quarter of a mile from my uncle's home and it has WIFI!!! Wooohooo!! It also has a pool and nice shaded campsites. We got everything set up and it rained for just a short while. I decided that would be a great time to go ahead and take a short catnap. I only laid down for about a half hour, but it was lovely. We then went to my Uncle's house and only about half of the cousins are here so far. By my Aunt's count, by tomorrow morning, we should have about 25-28 of us here!! I even have ONE cousin who is coming who I have not seen since I was probably in my late teens maybe early twenties!! And folks, that has been a day or two. She is sister to one of my very fave cousins and is also that fave cousin's fraternal twin. One twin is tall and very outgoing (that would be "E", my fave!) and the other is very small and very very quiet. I really am looking forward to tomorrow when we will ALL be there and it won't be for a doggone funeral or something like that. It will be a time to have fun, visit and catch up on each other's lives, go do a little shopping (or a LOT, who knows) and do what our family does best. EAT GOOD FOOD and LOTS of it. Hubs and I brought our ice cream freezer and so did my oldest sis. That is ANOTHER family tradition. Eating home made ice cream. I do remember one trip to Omaha (the last reunion) and my Daddy eating SO many bowls of ice cream that he ending up worshipping the porcelain throne most of the night!! That is how much our family (and my Daddy in particular) loves the stuff. I will be watching him tomorrow to make sure he doesn't overindulge like THAT again. hehehe
One of the things that I got to see tonight which I have never seen before, is a "flying" squirrel!! It seems that just after dark at my uncle's house, these squirrels hit the bird feeders hanging from ropes in the trees of my uncle's yard. What interesting little creatures!! They don't actually fly. They kind of jump and glide from the trees to the feeders. They really are cute little critters.
Well, my friends, I am going to do a little blog walking and then hit the sack. We have a BUSY day tomorrow and lots of visiting to do. You all have a great weekend!!
Hugs to you! TTFN
BBB

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-06-21T03:02:23Z</dcterms:modified>

Busy week....

This week is FLYING by!! We have had so much to do to get ready for our trip this weekend and so far we are right on track. We got all of the dishes, pots and pans, linens, all that stuff moved from the old RV to the new one. We bought a 4" memory foam top for the bed that was in the new RV. We bought a new set of sheets for it and also a new comforter set. So the RV is ready (and I am ready!!).
I got some really nice pork ribs on sale at our local grocery. I used my tried and true recipe and it did not fail me. We cooked them for several hours on a low oven heat on Saturday and when we took them out, the meat was falling off the bones. Hubby had to TEST them, of course. I have it on good authority that they are YUMMY!! After they cooled I cut them into 1/2 racks and put them in gallon baggies, then put them in the freezer. On Friday, I will be taking them and putting them in the fridge to transport to Mizzou. Once there, I have a huge cooker we can put them in to heat them up.
I have most of my laundry done. Now, all I have to do is bake a chocolate sheet cake (which takes 40 minutes start to finish) and some chocolate chip cookies and I am done.
I know I haven't posted pics yet of anything I promised. I have NOT forgotten. I am just in the learning curve so, I WILL get them done. I promise!!
I hope everyone is having a great week. You all take care and I will post more as I can.
Hugs to you all!
BBB

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-06-18T01:53:57Z</dcterms:modified>

Quick post

This will just be a quick post. I am getting ready to go get my hair done. I always look forward to this. For one I like to look better, and for two, I enjoy visiting with my hairdresser who has been doing my hair for close to 20 years.
The rest of the day will be spent transferring our stuff from the old RV to the new one. I also need to cook ribs today which I will freeze and then take to our reunion next weekend. My only decision is whether to fix regular ribs or baby backs. I like both. I have a great, easy, no-fail recipe given to me by a friend. My prep time will only be about 30 minutes and then they slow cook for a while. That's my kind of recipe!!
Other than that, I plan to enjoy the couple of rain free days today and tomorrow. It looks like we start getting rain on Sunday night and then there is a chance every freaking day to have rain!! I know I should not complain. Once it stops raining, we won't have any more for the rest of the summer. But, it would be nice if it was kind of spaced out for the rest of the summer. Oh well!! It will do what it will do.
I hope all my blog buds have a wonderful weekend. I will try to get back on if I can. You all take care!! It has evidently set outside in the elements, so the outside is not quite as nice as our present trailer which has been kept under an awning. But, it also hadn't even been cleaned up when we looked at it. A guy had put a contract on it, but he didn't qualify for his financing, so we snapped it up as the price was right and it had all the features we were looking for.
It has a super slide (which is opened just by pushing a button...not by using a crank like our present one). It has a queen sized bed, a hide-a-bed couch and the dinette makes into a bed as well. It has a large kitchen with an oven. It has a bigger bathroom and LOTS more storage. The rear of it is ALL windows and it has a recliner. It should have TWO but the previous owner took the two out (which were probably small) and put in one larger one. Needless to say, we are excited that we found this and it was in our price range. Actually, we got it at wholesale price. So, WOOHOO for us!!
Hubby will be taking my truck in and getting the hitch put in on Tuesday and on Wednesday we bring that baby home!! In the meantime, the dealership is doing a 31 point inspection and will fix anything they find that is amiss, and they are also detailing it out for us. Once we get it here, my job will be to unload all the stuff from our present trailer into the new one. I have my own set of dishes, pots and pans, linens and etc. for the present trailer. I will just move them over to the new one. Also, we are going to buy a different mattress for the bed.
Oh, and we will be selling the present RV, hopefully soon. So if you know anyone who wants a great starter, let me know. We have taken exceptionally good care of it and it has not set out in the elements at all.
Our maiden trip with the new trailer will be my cousins weekend in two weeks. Now I have even MORE reason to be excited about the trip!! I am doing the HAPPY dance!!
It has been a GREAT weekend folks. I hope everyone else's weekend has been just as good. I will get pics on here of the new home away from home as soon as I can.
Have a great week, my friends!! Hugs!
BBB<img src="http://c.services.spaces.live.com/CollectionWebService/c.gif?cid=3019023063947157477&page=RSS%3a+New+RV...&referrer=" width="1px" height="1px" border="0" week...

Yes. It has been one busy week. I thought when I got my laptop I would be blogging more often. That was the plan. I didn't take into account how very busy it has been around my office or at home. I shall take some time here and catch you up on my week.
Work, for some reason, has been crazy busy. My boss does a lot of estate planning and I guess because people travel more in the summer, they think of getting their estate planning done before they go on extended trips. I have done so many in the last few weeks it makes my head spin. However, it is always a GOOD idea to get this done no matter what your age is. I have seen too many people come into my office after a loved one passes and they have done nothing before hand to prepare for this. It is really hard on the family members left behind. I'm just saying....
This week was our "Taste of.." in one of our city's nicest parks. Area restaurants brought out samples of their marvelous food and drink. For a $15 ticket, you could eat and drink your way through the park. Entertainment of a lovely jazz band made the trip even more enjoyable. Boy do we have some GREAT restaurants in and around our city. I ate WAY more than I should have!! I also got to see lots of my friends who live in the area and to visit a little as well. It was a very nice evening.
I am preparing for our "cousins" weekend reunion which is coming up in two weeks. Woohoo!! I am stoked!! Hubby and I have been making arrangements for our pets' care while we are away. We always kennel our weimie and she does really well there so I had no problem with that. A friend usually comes by to feed and water our outside doggie. The sticking point has been Piper's care. She is my BABY!! My uncle said we could bring her, however, she requires ALL my attention if I am around. I want to be able to really visit and have a good time with my cousins since I see them so seldom. So, I really didn't want to take her. BUT. I didn't want to kennel her at such a young age. The thought just about had me in tears. Then it hit me. The lady I bought her from had said that she and her family would keep her if I ever needed it, so I called her, and voila!! I have Piper staying with her first family!! They also have Piper's Mommie and her brother, Cowboy, for her to play with, as well as a 4 year old who LOVES dogs. Also, Piper was the fave pup of this lady's husband. I saw them at our park event I just told you about and he is excited about keeping her as well. I am SO relieved I just cannot tell you. I know they will love on her like I do. Problem solved. Except, I am going to miss her like the dickens!! I know, I know. She's just a dog. But she is my baby!! hehehe
Next up is the news that hubby and I are headed out here in a little bit to look for a bigger RV. Our present one pops out on both ends with beds. You don't HAVE to do that to camp. It has two other beds you can set up without doing so. But we normally do use the pop out beds and it takes a while to get camp all set up. We are going to be looking for a Fifth wheel or a bigger self contained drag along trailer. We looked at a couple last night, but have several more places to go look today. If we get a Fifth wheel, we will have to modify my truck bed to pull it and that will be an added expense. I want hubby to get an RV that will last through our retirement. So I want to make sure we get all the features we want. I will keep you posted on our progress.
Weather wise, it has stormed just about every day or night here. We have had LOTS more limbs come out of our trees. They are still very weak from the ice storm in December. We JUST got all that debris hauled off by the county LAST Friday, and now we have more to haul off ourselves. I need to do some work in my flower beds. My friend Pat posted pics on her blog of all she had done and they look so wonderful!! I am inspired that I need to do some work on mine. Perhaps I can do some work this weekend. I am just not sure how the weekend will play out.
Well, I guess I better get after getting dressed and ready to go RV hunting. I also need to do a little blog walking and visit my friends. You all have a GREAT weekend and I will see ya next time.
Hugs!!
BBB<img blown away.....

Well it has been really crazy in my world. Crazy people that we are, hubby and I BELIEVED the weather people when they said there was only a 20% chance of a few showers. WE thought that meant there was an 80% chance of NONE. Not only did it rain yesterday, we about got blown away today. We took not only the travel trailer, since we have an F250 Diesel truck, we ALSO pulled the two Wave*runners. So, we were loaded for bear. We squeaked by yesterday with just a few showers and some lightning and thunder. However, when we got up TODAY and turned on the TV, the stations were telling of strong storms with high winds and hail coming our way. Our trailer is 23 feet long and each end opens up like a pop up with a bed in each end opening out. Many times we just open ONE end, and I like to sleep on the couch which makes a pretty comfy bed. But not so THIS time. We were full on camping with both ends opened up. After hearing the weather reports, I casually mentioned to hubby that perhaps we should fold in the beds before it rained. One thing led to another and we folded up camp and were ready to head out in about 40 minutes flat. Mind you, we didn't even eat breakfast. I had only made a pot of coffee. Nothing else. I even left a few dirty dishes in the sink. So, we headed home. Right. Into. The. Front!! We could see it coming and it was a big front and was MOST ominous looking. We did pretty well until we were about 8 miles from home, pulling into the small town of Coweta. That is when I was NOT sure we were going to make it. There was no where to pull off. We just had to continue driving very slowly. The rain and winds were scary. It is the only time I can recall in recent memory where I prayed the rest of the way home. I just prayed we would not be blown off the road. We finally made it to the back edge of the weather front and turned onto the road that pretty much leads to our house. We got about 500 feet on the road with NO shoulders and no where to turn around and up ahead....was a downed tree across the road. We were sitting trying to figure out what to do when the kid behind us goes flying around, through the ditch and to the other side. Whereupon, he stopped, backed up to the tree, jumped out and started pulling out what I THOUGHT were chains (turns out it was pretty heavy rope). The owner of the tree was out by then. They hooked up the tree and after two tries, had one lane of the road opened. Talk about a GODSEND!! That kid gets big kudos in my book for helping out. The rest of the trip home was pretty easy, but I think hubby's and my nerves were just about SHOT!! All I can say is....there will be NO more camping for us when there is even a SLIM chance of rain.
BTW...I am preparing this entry on my NEW LAPTOP!!! Woofreakinhoooo!! It is SO pretty and I have all my faves loaded on here already!! I will try to take some pics and post them.
Also, I got home and I got the sweetest notebook and pen from none other than our friend Kat!! It was my prize for her Mother's day entry contest. Thanks Kat!! You must know that I am ALWAYS looking for paper to write notes on. I can't tell you how many times I dig through my purse looking for paper and a pen. So this will definitely come in handy. You are a sweetie my dear friend!! (And your junk mail pile sounds ALOT like mine!! hehehe)
Well, friends, I have a LOT of blog walking to do!! I was totally out of commission since I didn't have time to do anything but WORK at our other office. Geez. You'd think it was a JOB or something. hehehe Anywho, I plan on visiting everyone and saying hi!!
Till next time.....
A very thankful BBB <img src="http://c.services.spaces.live.com/CollectionWebService/c.gif?cid=301902306394
