May 04 Just call me grace...Hi friends!! Yesterday, the hubby and I attended a wedding shower for a lovely couple from our new church. The shower was a "couples" or actually "family" shower as everyone was invited, which I thought was really nice. The theme was a luau theme. The hostesses had decorated beautifully, and the host husband is an expert griller. We had heard that this young man was a phenomenal cook, and we were not disappointed! All the food was exceptionally good and the fellowship was marvelous. It was so sweet to watch the bride and groom to be. They received many wonderful gifts. Hubby and I enjoyed the evening so much. Since there was a luau theme to the shower, everyone was encouraged to wear their best Hawaiian wear. Even though it was cold and rainy yet again, hubby and I got out our best to follow the theme. I was wearing my NEW green khaki pants, a Hawaiian shirt and the cutest platform slides I own. They are beige, with a flower on the toe. I LOVE these shoes!! That said, hubby and I left the shower and came home, talking about our kitchen remodel (the subject of many conversations lately but that's another story for another time). Anywho, we walked in the back door and hubby turned his back to me and was beginning to explain something he wanted to do. I was standing by the island and decided to slide my cute sandals off. Somehow, in the blink of an eye, I lost my balance, and before I could grab the island to steady myself, I FLEW backwards and fell, but not before hitting the back of my head on the unfinished wall area around my new pantry. There is no facing around the door, so it is just a sharp edged piece of wood. When I sat up, and about the time hubby looked around after hearing a crack sound (my head hitting the wall), blood was going everywhere. My new khakis and my shirt may not be salvageable. Hubby quickly got a wet towel and applied pressure to stop the bleeding. He helped me to the bathroom where I got out of my bloody clothes and into some sweats and a button up shirt, and we headed to the ER. Well, numerous "shots" in my head to numb it, ten staples, one gigantic headache, and one tetanus shot later, I got to go home. Hubby had to keep an eye on me during the night. I think he was supposed to wake me, but I don't think I slept much. They couldn't give me anything for pain, so I had to take some Advil and tough it. I am home this morning and hubby is going to come home at lunch to make sure that when I shower I do okay. I still have to wash my hair. It is just a mess. Oh well, at least I have no concussion and the staples can be taken out in a week. So, just call me grace! Oh, and if anyone wants the CUTEST pair of shoes and you are more graceful than I, you just let me know and the shoes are YOURS!! Hugs to you! Peace. Out. Bev Comments (7)
