April 20 Wonderful weekend...I did have a wonderful weekend. I hope everyone else did too. I got to head out a little early on Friday to head to see my bestie. It was rainy and windy when I headed out. I did not run through enough rain to even require my windshield wipers, so it wasn't a bad drive. May I say that, in fact, the drive there and back, no matter the weather, was glorious! The highway I had to take is through areas where there are lots of woodlands on either side of the road. Pretty much the whole way there, with every turn there were tall old trees barely beginning to leaf out, and mixed in were hundreds and hundreds of small Dogwood trees in full white bloom. It was absolutely gorgeous! Even in the mist going, it was gorgeous. And coming home, under cloudy skies it was gorgeous. When I got to bestie's house, I found that her hubby had gone to see his brother and family so that she and I could just have a "girls weekend." I thought that we SO sweet of him. Bestie had gone to the store and bought us some junk food so we could just veg and visit. She had also made me a little spring/Easter gift to bring home with me. We sat and visited till both of us were really getting sleepy (which, given the week we had both had was NOT very late), then we called it a night. Saturday morning after we both slept in and got up and around, we went to breakfast at our favorite little restaurant near her home. They got my breakfast absolutely perfect, as usual. Then we headed out about our rounds. It was cloudy, but not rainy for most of the day. We did hit Open/Shut and for once I didn't buy anything. BFF found a really neat old chair. They had taken the seat out of it, and in its place they had put a neat planter of flowers. I was totally amazed that she could get it in the back seat of her car, but she did. We also hit the town square of a nearby town. I love that quaint little town square. They have a farmers market there on some Saturdays, but not this one. This area is full of lots of neat shops and we hit several of them. I found a nice baby gift for my nephew's wife. She is due any day with another baby girl. I found a really sweet blankie, which this baby will love if it is anything like my nephew. He carried his around when he was a baby until it fell apart. Outside of that one purchase, I didn't buy anything else. Just as the rain finally started, bestie and I headed to Mimi's. You know how I love THAT place as I have written before. We had a wonderful late lunch and best of all, her hubby gave her money and told her to treat us both for that lunch. Wasn't that cool? I thought it was such a sweet thing for him to do. After lunch we hit her new Super Tarjay. But by that time we were both pretty tired, so we didn't stay long there, and headed back to bestie's house. It was nice just to kick back. Oh! And we did a "project"!! She had bought two really pretty metal cornices to hang out on her back deck. From those, she wanted to hang her hummingbird feeders. So, we got after those with hammers, nails, levels and all. I told her I coulda gotten them hung a lot quicker if I'd had a nice cordless drill. But, we managed with a hammer and nails. I must say they looked VERY good when we got them done. It was an adventure making the nectar and getting it into the feeders. I think we got as much on us and the deck as we did in the feeders. Before I left, we had noticed several little hummingbird "scouts." She is going to have tons of hummingbirds before long, I just know it. Really, the best part of a weekend like this one is spending time with someone you have known for so long, who knows you SO well and who you can tell anything and who is SO like you, yet SO different. Oh, and that person loves you in spite of all your faults and warts. It is not EVERYONE who can find that kind of friendship in a lifetime. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful friend. She is truly one of the BEST people I know and is someone I have ALWAYS admired. Oh, and while I was there I got her hooked up on here so she can read my blog when she wants to. I am hoping she is going to send me some pictures she took before I left. She wanted to get some pictures of the Dogwood trees in her area. On her street, one of her neighbors actually had a Dogwood that was half pink and half white. I have NEVER seen one like that. I checked, and it wasn't two trees close together, but one tree. That neighbor also had a Dogwood that was all pink blooms. Anywho, we drove around her area and she got several pics. If she sends them to me I will share them with you. Well, DWTS is on and you know what that means. It means I gotta go!! Ya'll take care and have a wonderful week. Hugs! Bev P.S. Bestie, if you are reading this, and I hope you are, I love ya bunches and bunches and thanks again for the great weekend!! Comments (2)
