August 27 Pffffft...sputter sputter...pfffftHmmmmmm.....what a cryptic title, huh? I hate to even have to make this post to my blog. That was the sound that met my ears as I headed out on the lake with the three seater Waverunner hubby just bought! I even heard it MULTIPLE times!! God is just gonna have to forgive me because I think I used every swear word I've ever heard. I may have even made a few up!! Let me backtrack here and say that hubby and I enjoyed a nice drive to the lake Saturday early evening. It was a beautiful day and we were so excited to try our our new purchases. We got to the landing and got both Runners unloaded. I got on the three seater and held onto the two seater till hubby could park the truck and return. He then told me to take off and try the thing till I got used to it a little. So, off I headed. I got about 200 or so feet out into the lake past the no wake zone and let off the gas just a little to turn.....and that's when I heard that sound and the engine quit. I tried the starter. Nothing. Tried again. Nothing. Sat a few minutes and tried again. Success!! It started. However, if I let up on the throttle even the tiniest bit...I heard that sound again and then NOTHING. It took me about ten tries to get back to shore where hubby was waiting with the two seater which NEVER STARTED!!!! I got off and told hubs to see if it was something I was doing. Well....gee....umm....NO!!! It wasn't ME!! Needless to say, hubby was NOT a happy camper and neither was I. When we got home, he proceeded to work on the newer one which, did I mention, NEVER STARTED!!! I feel badly for hubby. We are pretty much stuck with these things. He is taking them to the guy tomorrow to put in the shop. If they can't get them running I want our money back....but we aren't likely to get it. SO folks. The lesson is this. If you are going to buy USED personal water craft, have the owner take you TO THE LAKE and try them out PRIOR to paying for them. Hubby reads my blog and he feels bad, but I could just strangle his customer...not hubby. NUFF SAID!!!
So, now we are going to a possible plan "B" with the grandkids. They love to camp in our travel trailer, and they don't get to very often, and in fact, haven't camped with us this summer at all. That is our possible plan. Of course, everyone else in our area probably has the same plan, so we are not sure if we will do this or not. Also, our daughter has not told us exactly when and for how long we will have the kids. We need some information here folks!! We were just by there and we didn't get much useful info tonight either.
The one upside to the weekend was that I had my hairdresser cut about 4-5 inches off my hair. It turned out really good and is SO easy to fix now!! Yippee!! Everyone that has seen it says it looks really cute. So I am very pleased!!
I guess I better start getting things ready for my work day tomorrow. I hope everyone has a great week!! Do tell your holiday plans!!
Later gators!
BBB August 23 Ahoy mates!!As you might or might not guess from my title tonight.......hubby bought the pair of Waverunners his friend had for sale. We got them both and the trailer and two life vests altogether. Both also have covers which is nice seeing as we have no where indoors to store them. One thing about hubby and I is that we take good care of our vehicles and having had a personal water craft and a boat already, we took good care of them and they were in pristine condition when we sold them. Not so these two craft. They have seen some hard use. But, until we see if we are really wanting to go whole hog into major water craft ownership, these will suffice. We can always trade them in should we decide that we want new ones (and the added expense). For our purposes, I think they are fine for now. Wooohooo!! So we will be pulling out to one of the nearby lakes soon, I hope!!! One of them is a two seater and the other is a three seater. I foresee that on the holiday weekend, we will make a run to the lake. We will have the two oldest of our grandchildren for at least part of the weekend, so I am sure they are going to be wanting to try them out!! In the past we have had some very good times at the lake, and I think we will again. I know the kids and grandkids will be excited about the purchase. Of course, the two oldest grandchildren are still too young to operate one of these, but I would imagine that getting out and riding around on one will be fun enough for now.
I had a personal training session tonight and I am so sore I cannot move!! We did work those "hangy down" parts of the underarm, which for some reason are NOT one of my major problem areas. However, I told S that several people were interested in how to firm those up. One thing she had me do was sit on the edge of one of the workout benches (I imagine a chair might work). With my feet on the floor I slid my behind barely off the bench and then lifted my body up and down just using that area of the arms. That's probably clear as mud huh?? Anyways...it was really hard to do because I have a large posterior to lift up and down. Now said posterior is getting better but I am not there yet!! One of the people observing a workout (of his youngest son) was one of our local funeral directors. I think M was quite surprised to see me there working out. I think he was impressed by the time he left because S really worked me hard!! Even the owner was teasing me sayin' that S shouldn't work me so hard that I needed M's services!! S didn't know what he did until I told her. Then she thought it was funny.
I am going to be having lunch next week with the Gypsy. I talked to her today and she and another friend of ours who used to run around together are planning this lunch. It should be fun!! I am sure that by the time the lunch is over I shall have heard some more of Gypsy's amusing stories!! If I hear any good ones I am sure I will pass them along.
Well, friends, I am going to take my tired self off to beddy bye!!
Have a nice Friday!! Woohoo....the weekend is upon us!!
Enjoy!!
BBB August 22 This 'n that I know....that's not a very original title....I have used it before....but get over it!!! I only have a little time to blog...so I had to recycle!! I am presently using hubby's brand spankin' new laptop! He has been very nice to share with me. Yaaaayyy!! It is soooo fun! I am sitting in the family room and am blogging while hubs watches TV. This is so cool!!
I heard from BFF today on my way home. She has had her new kindergartners for three whole days now. I was curious if she had all the difficult kids like last year. She said no. She threatened her principal with retirement if they did that to her again. Now, she doesn't mind having a few kids who are challenging....that is just the way of life for teachers. But last year, she had the lion's share of those kiddos. She told me that she had a funny story from today. I shall share it with you. Those of you who are a "little older" like me, (I know weimie, but it's pertinent to my story cause we women of a certain age start to get a few "sags"), anyways, you will really understand why BFF was laughing herself silly. BFF says that she was doing an activity with her kiddos. They were standing up and her kids were all around her. She had lifted her arms out to illustrate a point and all of a sudden she realized there was one little boy standing under her arm playing with the skin on the back of her underarm. He looked up and says "Mrs. C...what is this right here??" She says.."well it's part of my arm!!" He looked at her and says "Well what is it?" She explains that it is just skin that is kinda hanging...and he's kinda hitting at it. He then says "but my Momma's arm doesn't look like that!!" She said she about fell over trying not to laugh. What she COULDN'T say to the kid was..."heck NO your Momma's arm doesn't look like this....she's probably in her twenties....not fifties!!" Of course she could not say that to him...but she said she sure was thinkin' it. Kids really do say the darndest things!! BFF told me she worked all summer long trying to "firm up" that area of hangy down skin we women of a certain age seem to get. Aren't kids just hilarious in the things that they notice?? What a hoot!! I told her I would ask my personal trainer tomorrow what she can do to get rid of that and firm it up. She said she'd be very greatful...cause she really wants to firm that up!!
Changing horses here....I hear this weekend we are going to start having a little bit cooler weather. I am SO ready for fall!! I absolutely love fall and also love going to the fair!! Love, love, love that FAIR food!! I love looking at all the exhibits and stuff, I don't ride rides because no one will ride with me. But I can eat my way from one end of the fair to the other!! Yeehaww!!
In other news....hubby has put in a bid on a couple of Seadoos (two used ones a friend has for sale). The guy wants more, but we aren't in any hurry to find a pair. We REALLY caught the fever for them in Florida!! I keep tellin' hubs that come fall, we can probably pick up a couple and a trailer if we just bide our time. We shall see what happens on that front.
Lastly, I get my hair done this weekend!!! Yaaaayyy!! I have been trying to get my hairdresser to do something different and cut some length off. We shall see what happens when I get there. He used to beg to cut it short. But since I grew it out this last time, he has been on the "it looks so good long" kick. Go figure!!
Well, folks, you all have a really nice evening and rest of the week!! Maybe I can borrow the laptop this weekend and make another post. Who knows!!
Take care all!
BBB August 20 Another mixed bag...Well the weekend was just that. Another mixed bag. For the most part, it was pretty good. Saturday morning I was up early, headed down to the gym and discovered that they didn't open till 9:00 a.m. Now, I have an electronic door key for "after hours" but I just wasn't too hip on being the only person in the gym that early in the morning. There was not another soul in the whole complex where the gym is located. So, I just went home, did some hills on our treadmill, did some weights, and some ab work and called it done!! I am still enjoying the personal training and am seeing some results....FINALLY!! I just bought 12 more sessions, so I am COMMITTED to this!! I will be buff or semi buff at some point. I AM getting there!! And I am actually enjoying being a "Gym Rat!"
Lunch time Saturday found me at a really neat little tea room type place in a nearby suburb to meet some friends from my single years. We have kept in touch for 20 plus years. It was so great to see everyone and catch up on what's going on in each other's lives. There were a couple of friends that couldn't make it....dawggone it....and one we have just lost track of. But six of us showed up and enjoyed a great visit and a wonderful lunch. I will make it back to that particular eatery. Good food and good prices!!
Saturday evening found hubby and me at "Wild Brew" which benefits our local Sutton Avian Research. If the turnout was any indication (tickets weren't cheap) they made a good amount of money. There were "patrons" who paid at least $100/per person, and general admission was $40/per. Once inside, you got a plastic cup and could sample your little heart out from a choice of about 200 or more different beers, ales, that kinda thing. Over 20 restaurants also had food to give out, plus there were tables with peanuts and chex mix everywhere so you could stand and visit. Patrons were able to enter 1 hour earlier and they got to SIT at tables. My fave local band...."Mid Life Crisis" was playing and there was lots of eating, drinking, visiting and dancing going on. The place was PACKED!! Now, I am NOT a real big beer drinker....but our kids told us how much fun they had at last year's event....so we bit. I did enjoy several new types of beer which if I can find, I would purchase. I ate WAAAAAAY too much, and there were WAAAAAY too many different kinds of food. I truly didn't drink too much. I would estimate I probably had the equivalent of two full beers because I asked people to just give me a "little" of each kind I drank, and the cups were small. There were several that I took a sip of and then poured out. After leaving the Brew, hubs and I headed to Riverwalk to attend the CD release of a band for which hubs does T-shirts. A little group called "Johnny Reliable". The main couple in the group have become friends with hubby over the years and they offered us VIP passes (meaning a free CD, drinks and refreshments). Just what I didn't need, but it was sure sweet of them. We didn't get to stay for their whole set. It started raining, not heavy, and most of the crowd stayed. But I was tired and ready to go home and kick my shoes off. Dummy me, I wore my "pretty sandals" because they looked so "cute" with my outfit. They were NOT good for standing all evening. My dogs were a barkin' I tell ya!!!
Come about 3:00 a.m., I was in misery!!! Sick to my stomach and a tummy ache so bad I could NOT find a comfortable way to lay, much less sleep!! So....it was to the couch in the family room, propped myself in a sitting up position and I managed a couple hours of sleep. I finally crawled back in bed about 6:00. I did NOT get up until NOON!! And I just felt crummy ALL day yesterday. So!! No more mixing of kinds of "brew" and if I go to something like that again, I shall pick my very fave foods and only eat those instead of eating a "little" of EVERY kind of food there!! I used to have a "lead" stomach....but not any more.
By evening I was feeling better, but just didn't have any energy. I pretty much was a putz the WHOLE day yesterday. Totally worthless....that was me!! Oh well. I DID have a good time for a while....just paid for it later. ;) I hope everyone had a great weekend. I shall cruise around and visit now.
Take care my friends!
Later....
BBB August 17 Florida - the final chapterI know you all are probably getting sick of hearing about my trip. So this is the last installment. Really, about the main things we did, which I enjoyed and haven't told you about is our trip to Hard Rock Cafe, and then our moonlight sail on the final night there. We had noticed early in the week that Destin now has a Hard Rock Cafe. We love to collect their shirts, and have one from just about every place we have ever been. So, we made the trip, mid-week. We got our shirts and then had the usual Hard Rock food. On this particular night, I was craving Mexican food which I love, and there doesn't seem to be a whole lot in the way of in Florida. There is some....but nothing like Tex-Mex heaven here at home. So anywho....we had their super nachos. They were pretty good and helped satisfy my Mexi-habit. After eating, we wandered around in the mall area that this eatery was in and found some really interesting little shops. We found another shop where we bought some very unusual t-shirts. Can't remember the name of the place, but it was chock full of unusual furniture, art, jewelry and shirts. If I ever win the lottery, I am going BACK to that store and shop my little heart out. I could have spent a FORTUNE there, (if I had one...which I don't).
Our last night in Destin, we had a nice dinner and then made our way to the Marina. Hubby had booked us a sailing on the Silent Lady for the 8:30-10:30 sailing. This is a replica of a tall ship. There is a picture hubs took of information on the ship. It was just a lovely time. There were only about a dozen of us on this particular trip. The captain and first mate were very charming and sweet. They served beer, wine and margaritas. Right up MY alley folks!! The thing is, the mast on this ship is very very tall. I am not sure how many feet....but really tall because it isn't a small sail craft. We went UNDER the Bay Bridge which leads into Destin. I was totally freaked because it was night, and I swear it looked like we would only have an inch or two of clearance. The Captain assured us that we would have about 18 inches. Well....that just made me feel so MUCH better.....not!! hehehe It was beautiful to see Destin marina and the surrounding area at night from this ship. There was a cool breeze off the water. It was cloudy....so there was no moonlight. But it was beautiful nonetheless!! There were three young couples on our sailing and we had quite a lot of "entertainment" just watching their youthful exuberance. They walked as far out on the front of the boat as you can (ala "I'm King of the World"), they took pictures, they danced, and just had a general merry old time. Oh to be that young again!!
Lastly...to answer a question from NJaney....about the baby sharks. They were about maybe 6-8 inches long. So really just babies thank goodness. Trust me.....we were keeping an eye out for Mama Shark!!
Friday morning found us packed and on our way home. First night on the way back was spent in Baton Rouge again. The next day, when we made it to Shreveport, which was to be our stop for the night, hubs looked at me and said...."let's go on home!!" I was all over that one. We lost our payment to the KOA, but didn't really care. We wanted to be home, and arrived about 9:30 Saturday night. That gave us all day Sunday to get the trailer cleaned and unpacked and to do the marathon loads of dirty laundry. As much fun as it is to go away....I love coming home!! As Dorothy says...."there's no place like home....there's no place like home!!" Unfortunately, we brought the HEAT with us from the coast. It has been blazing hot!! No big news there. But at least we are home!!
Well, friends and blogland....that's the story of BBB's mighty vacation!! I hope I haven't bored you too much! If I have....well....it's my blog and I'll bore if I want to. hehehehe Just kiddin!!
Have a great weekend all!!
BBB August 16 Which way did he go...and other adventuresIf any of you have ever travelled and camped in a travel trailer, you know that most trailers the size of ours (23 foot) have a small water heated tank. You can take showers. But there is an art to it. You MUST at all costs, conserve the hot water, lest you leave your spouse with only COLD water to shower in....which is just NOT the thing to do. After one of my days on the beach, hubs deferred to me and said...gee why don't you take YOUR shower first honey! (Isn't that sweet!!) So, being hot and covered with salt, suntan oil and sand, I took him up on his kind offer. I proceed to gather my stuff and prepare for my shower. In our trailer, you set your water temp in the little sink where you brush your teeth, pull up on the lever the closes the drain, and the water magically is sent to the shower head. I followed all the proper steps. The shower head has a lever to turn the water on and off while you shower. If you are being considerate, (and of COURSE we know I am hehehehe) you hose yourself really good, then turn the lever to "off" to conserve the hot water, and then you proceed to wash hair and bod. All went well up to that point. I got my wonderful smelling shampoo and shampooed my hair, and washed the old bod. Then is supposed to come the LUXURY of hosing off again with that warm, wonderful water you've been conserving. Well, I turn the little lever and nothing happens. Not just no HOT water. NOOOOOOO! It's NO WATER AT ALL but just a miniscule trickle of cold water!! I have soap from my hair and face running into my eyes. I am fiddling with the sink, fiddling with the shower and NADA!! No water pressure and just the smallest trickle of water. So being the resourceful person I am, I start yelling for my hubby to help. I yelled a lot. I beat on the wall. Not getting ANY response, I haul my soapy self outta the shower, walk out into the trailer buck naked and see he isn't there. I very carefully open the front door and holler my very loudest. Several times in fact. Well, it turns out that hubby had decided to take the golf cart for a little jaunt around our little RV neighborhood. So I hauled my naked self BACK to the bathroom, got in the shower and used ICE COLD water from the sink (which was the only water I could get....and not MUCH of that) and managed to rinse my soapy self off. It took for freaking EVER!! I had to use a washcloth back and forth from sink to shower to rinse my hair as well. About the time I finished this task, in bops hubby all happy and just oblivious that anything was wrong. I asked him just what the dingdurn heck was going on with the water? He's like "what do you mean?" I proceed to tell him there is no water pressure and that I only got cold water and very little of that, and told him how I finished MY wonderful shower. Being the handy man he is, he proceeded outside to discover that some kind of connector he used to hook up our water had "gone South" on us. Well no freaking kiddin!!! I told him our neighbors probably thought he must be travelling with some totally insane woman who screams alot and beats on walls. I was NOT a happy camper!! And I imagine anyone who was in earshot of my yelling knew it. To his credit, he did NOT make the mistake of laughing at my distress. It is probably the reason he is still living and breathing as we speak. Luckily, he was able to fix the situation in time for HIS shower. Well ain't that lovely!! No really, I am glad that he didn't have to go through my ordeal. All was well with the shower situation for the rest of the trip. Yessss!!
In other news, we took an afternoon and went down to the marina in Destin and rented Seadoos for a little ride. The time on those is very expensive, so we only took an hour's ride. We were able to go out into the bay and just ride our little hearts out. It was so much fun. We used to have a boat, but sold it when we bought our house because it had a pool. We figured we wouldn't use both, and the grandkids begged us to keep the pool. Anywho....it was fun to be on a water craft again. Whilst running full out just to see what my little craft would do, I looked up ahead a ways and I see several FINS stiking out of the water. I shut my craft down immediately. Lo and behold, there were several dolphins just playing around in the water. Slipping in and out of the water just effortlessly, they paid absolutely no attention to us (I had flagged hubby down and pointed them out). It was SO cool!!! Of course, we did not have our camera, darn it!! Otherwise, we would have taken pics. But that sighting just made my trip!! When we pulled back in to the marina with the Seadoos, the people would not let us get off them in the water, but we had to pull up to the steps. I wondered why until I looked down. The water was just FULL of hundreds of jelly fish. I have NEVER seen that many. I knew we were under purple flags, but our area of the beach had seen few of them. I kinda figured out why. They were ALL at the marina!!! The poor girl who was working the watercraft had on a wet suit, but got stung on the foot anyway. I felt bad for her. She told us there were only two things you could do....pour vinerar on it, or PEE ON IT, and she said she wasn't doin' that. I kid you not. That's what she said. I felt bad for her.....but I really enjoyed my time out on the watercraft. Of COURSE, both hubby and I are kinda hankering to have some of our own again!! The grandkids haven't used the pool once this year, and hubs and I are thinking of taking it out since it is above ground. I kinda hate that because he built us a beautiful deck and we have wonderful umbrellas and can just step out when we want to and swim. But I know it is a lot of work for him. Oh well....I digress. I can sure get to meandering in my posts. Sorry....but it's just what I do!! ;)
Several of you have asked about the funky rental cars picture I posted. We saw those little turkeys everywhere along the old highway in Destin. We never stopped to check on prices or anything, and I don't know how "street legal" they were, but they held two people, and we just saw people zipping everywhere in them. You could also rent scooters and dune buggies. You couldn't use the dune buggies on the beach, but we saw them on the streets. I'm not sure where else people could drive them. Maybe next trip we will rent one of the funky cars.
I have one more installment on our trip and then I will pretty much have filled you in on the vacay. All in all, it was great and I just LOVE that area of Florida and highly recommend it to any of you who are looking for a place to spend some time on the beach. I just don't think there are any prettier beaches anywhere.
Well, folks, I gotta go get a shower and get ready for tomorrow. Have a nice evening everyone!
Later gators!
BBB Florida...part oneCan I just start off by saying we had a WONDERFUL trip!! We were in no less than five states in three days' time. We hit the road about 9:00 a.m. on Friday the 3rd. Hubby had programmed in our navigation system in the truck for mapping to our first destination....Shreveport, LA. I must say....it is the first time we had used the system on a long trip and it sure made the going easy. By the END of the trip, however, I was ready to slap the woman who is the voice of the computer. I got tired of her telling me where to go.....I get enough of that....hehehe! We are working on getting som pics together for a slide show. Have been having technical difficulties with MY puter....which I liken to a Studebaker (you youngins probably don't know what that is). I had to have hubs use his Lamborghini puter to hopefully get it in a form where I can put it on here.
I digressed. So sorry.....we people over 50 seem to ramble like that!! The first day's trip went really well. I had been through Texas countless times, but never into Louisiana. The roads there are pretty good and scenic compared to roads here in OK. Tall pines along both sides, with wide, wide medians with tall pines and other trees as well. I also noticed that other states actually have nice rest stops (unlike the Sooner state). We made Shreveport in time to set up our camp, take a short rest, then met with a couple who used to attend our church for dinner. It was lovely seeing our friends and just catching up on our lives.
One thing about this trip that you will notice from the pictures is a common theme.....we crossed more bridges of every kind and character than I have ever crossed on one single trip before. As you near Shreveport, there is a 25 mile....yepper....25 mile bridge over the Atchafalaya Basin (basically SWAMP folks!!). Given the state of some of our U.S. bridges...and happenings in Minnesota....it was just enough to give you a LITTLE pause when you got on these massive bridges. Anywho, when I get the pictures up....you will see the various bridges!! We also went through one tunnel....I am not sure WHAT we went under.....and I may not want to know. But it was as you came into Mobile, Alabama. It weirded me out!!
Saturday morning we headed for the second stop....Baton Rouge, LA. Again, lots of bridges across lots of swamp land, and at the very last as you came into BR...some of the bumpiest roads....I thought I was back in Oklahoma!! HEHEHE Sunday morning it was on to Destin. I cannot tell you how beautiful it is when you arrive in the Florida panhandle city of Pensacola. From there on down the coast....it is just beautiful blue green water and white sugar sands. One of the pics I will post is of hubby's sandals and my little $6 "body board" I played on all week. It shows just how white the sands are.
One thing that I did not remember from my visits to the area years ago was how LONG the drive is down the coast. It took us well over an hour to get from Pensacola to our area of Destin. It is a loverly drive most of the way. Lots of places to just pull off the highway...park your car and boogie on down to da beach.
As I may have said...we camped at a place called..."Camping on the Gulf". It was a nice resort type area with two pools and a jacuzzi, a shower house, a general store, and a laundry. When hubby saw that the hike from our camp to da beach was downhill going and uphill coming back....he made the wise decision to rent a golf cart for the week!! Yaaaayyy!! We'd load that puppy up with all our gear and it made life much easier....which at MY age....is the name of the GAME!! hehehe
We both spent many hours just sitting in our beach chairs watching the people, sipping nice cool beverages, watching the parasailers, or playing in the surf. I also forgot just how MUCH that salt water stings when it gets in your eyes!! I can't say that I let it stop me from playing in the waves though....I am no wimp...at least most of the time!! We had purple flags all week....meaning we had to be on the lookout for our friendly (NOT) jellyfish friends who will sting the beeejeeebers outta you if they get the chance. We only saw a couple in our area. I was playing in the surf on Thursday (which was our last day there) and there were two itty bitty baby sharks playing around my legs and the legs of the other swimmers. I wasn't too worried about them....but I was SURE hoping that they weren't mama's babies....if you catch my drift!! We never did catch sight of mama though....thank you God!! If I had a clue she was around....I think I could probably do a "walk on water" type exit. I'm not a wimp....but hopefully...I'm not STUPID either!!
Next post...I hope to share some of our other adventures. I don't want to give you all too much at one time!!! You might get BORED!! So, I shall work on installment two....very soon. And I am a novice....having never added pictures....so I will get them up as soon as I can navigate those murky waters!!
Suffice it to say, I am glad to be home. It has been nice visiting my blog friends. I missed ya'll!! I haven't made it around to everyone, but I will get there soon!!
Later gators!!
BBB
August 08 Florida is FUN!!Can't stay on but a minute....we are at a cyber cafe. Costs out the ying yang. We are having a great time. Going to go rent a Seadoo and take to the water that way. It has been hot and humid of course....but the beach is lovely. I will have lots of stories and pics when I return. I hope all is well with my blog buddies!! I cannot visit now...but will when we return. Until then.....have a great rest of the week!! BBB August 03 And.....we're OFF!!!Well, friends, we are loaded up and ready to pull on outta here!! I hope everyone has a great weekend and next week. I will check in if I can. If not....I am sure I will have some stories to tell when I return. Kat...I will get some beach pics for ya!!
Take care my friends!!
See you on the flip side!!
BBB August 01 Two more days.....Yeeeessssss!!!! Just two more days folks!!! In case you hadn't noticed my change of background....it was done in honor of my upcoming trip to da beach!! Oh.....I just hear the beach calling. I can see that sugar sand. I can hear the waves of the ocean coming in. In my mind....I can feel being there already!! And Kat....I WILL have MY ice chest....so ain't no one gonna mess up MY vacay!!! hehehe
I have been getting my office in order so that all is (hopefully) well while I am gone. My lawfirm bills out my time, just like the attorneys. So....I got on the ball the past two days, and my July time is posted and ready to go!! Yaaaay for me!!! I told my boss yesterday and he was quite pleased. Tonight, I am going to start packing. I will probably need to do a little laundry as well.
My youngest niece, her husband and my great-nephew have been staying with us this week whilst she attends a Shakespeare conference. She teaches high school english. Anywho....this is the most time I have spent around my great nephew, M. He is just an absolute doll!! Blond hair, HUGE blue eyes, and an inquisitive nature as most little ones do have at just over a year old. I read books to him the other night. He just loves for you to read to him. I do have to say that my weimy just LOVES him!! She follows him everywhere just on the outside shot that he might drop whatever food he is carrying around. Needless to say....she has eaten stuff this week she has never had before....i.e. POP TART*S, cheese sticks, toast, chicken chunks. You name it....she has been the catcher of foodstuff!! Niece's hubs had to return home last night and work today, so my sister is coming in to field the little one. My mom is also having a few problems....so I think sis is gonna be busy. It is looking like we are going to have to move my Mom to skilled nursing soon. I know Dad doesn't want to, but he is just getting worn out taking care of her. Even with hospice help....he is primary caregiver 24/7. Also, my brother-in-law is coming in to stay at our house while we are gone and he will be taking care of MIL who is still not doing well. B comes in today....so I will have a house full!! If they don't mind my "leaving on vacay" mess, it's fine with me. And they don't seem to mind a bit.
So.....work today....work tomorrow....and then....I am off till August 13th.
Well, I best be getting ready for work, folks.
You all have a nice day now!!
