Blogaversary!

Doggone it!  I missed my second blogaversary!  Two years ago I started this blog thinking I might blog for a month or two.  I never dreamed I would still be around some two years later.   I have made lots of friends around the blogosphere.  I had read blogs for quite a while and enjoyed them, and I still do.  Thanks for all the support.  I know my blog isn't the funniest or best of the blogs, but it is something I have enjoyed immensely.

Thanks for coming along on this ride.  It's been fun!

Wonderful weekend...

I did have a wonderful weekend.  I hope everyone else did too.  I got to head out a little early on Friday to head to see my bestie.  It was rainy and windy when I headed out.  I did not run through enough rain to even require my windshield wipers, so it wasn't a bad drive.  May I say that, in fact, the drive there and back, no matter the weather, was glorious!  The highway I had to take is through areas where there are lots of woodlands on either side of the road.  Pretty much the whole way there, with every turn there were tall old trees barely beginning to leaf out, and mixed in were hundreds and hundreds of small Dogwood trees in full white bloom.  It was absolutely gorgeous!  Even in the mist going, it was gorgeous.  And coming home, under cloudy skies it was gorgeous.

When I got to bestie's house, I found that her hubby had gone to see his brother and family so that she and I could just have a "girls weekend."  I thought that we SO sweet of him.  Bestie had gone to the store and bought us some junk food so we could just veg and visit.  She had also made me a little spring/Easter gift to bring home with me.  We sat and visited till both of us were really getting sleepy (which, given the week we had both had was NOT very late), then we called it a night.  Saturday morning after we both slept in and got up and around, we went to breakfast at our favorite little restaurant near her home.  They got my breakfast absolutely perfect, as usual.  Then we headed out about our rounds.  It was cloudy, but not rainy for most of the day.  We did hit Open/Shut and for once I didn't buy anything.  BFF found a really neat old chair.  They had taken the seat out of it, and in its place they had put a neat planter of flowers.  I was totally amazed that she could get it in the back seat of her car, but she did.    We also hit the town square of a nearby town.  I love that quaint little town square.  They have a farmers market there on some Saturdays, but not this one.  This area is full of lots of neat shops and we hit several of them.  I found a nice baby gift for my nephew's wife.  She is due any day with another baby girl.  I found a really sweet blankie, which this baby will love if it is anything like my nephew.   He carried his around when he was a baby until it fell apart.  Outside of that one purchase, I didn't buy anything else.

Just as the rain finally started, bestie and I headed to Mimi's.  You know how I love THAT place as I have written before.  We had a wonderful late lunch and best of all, her hubby gave her money and told her to treat us both for that lunch.  Wasn't that cool?  I thought it was such a sweet thing for him to do.  After lunch we hit her new Super Tarjay.  But by that time we were both pretty tired, so we didn't stay long there, and headed back to bestie's house.  It was nice just to kick back.  Oh!  And we did a "project"!!  She had bought two really pretty metal cornices to hang out on her back deck.  From those, she wanted to hang her hummingbird feeders.  So, we got after those with hammers, nails, levels and all.  I told her I coulda gotten them hung a lot quicker if I'd had a nice cordless drill.  But, we managed with a hammer and nails.  I must say they looked VERY good when we got them done.  It was an adventure making the nectar and getting it into the feeders.  I think we got as much on us and the deck as we did in the feeders.  Before I left, we had noticed several little hummingbird "scouts."   She is going to have tons of hummingbirds before long, I just know it.

Really, the best part of a weekend like this one is spending time with someone you have known for so long, who knows you SO well and who you can tell anything and who is SO like you, yet SO different.  Oh, and that person loves you in spite of all your faults and warts.  It is not EVERYONE who can find that kind of friendship in a lifetime.  I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful friend.  She is truly one of the BEST people I know and is someone I have ALWAYS admired.

Oh, and while I was there I got her hooked up on here so she can read my blog when she wants to.  I am hoping she is going to send me some pictures she took before I left.   She wanted to get some pictures of the Dogwood trees in her area.  On her street, one of her neighbors actually had a Dogwood that was half pink and half white.  I have NEVER seen one like that.  I checked, and it wasn't two trees close together, but one tree.  That neighbor also had a Dogwood that was all pink blooms.  Anywho, we drove around her area and she got several pics.  If she sends them to me I will share them with you.

Well, DWTS is on and you know what that means.  It means I gotta go!!  Ya'll take care and have a wonderful week.

Hugs!

Bev

P.S. Bestie, if you are reading this, and I hope you are, I love ya bunches and bunches and thanks again for the great weekend!!

Rays of sunshine....

We have seen some of those today thank goodness.  The rainy gray weather has really been a drag on everyone's psyche around here.  So the sun has been very welcomed.

This Friday as soon as I get off work, I will be hitting the road to see my bestie.  I think we are just going to be hanging out.  I may see if we can hit our favorite antique place which we call "Open/Shut".  We call it that because rather than a sign outside which says "Open/Closed" - their sign says "Open/Shut".  So that is what we call it.  I have no idea what it really is called.  That's just what we call it.  This lady's prices are always really good and she just has ton and tons of neat stuff.  I am taking bestie my old, but still working set of hot rollers.  She used her set up until it bit the dust a while back.  I mentioned that I still had mine and that they still worked, so I will be taking mine to her.  It is supposed to be rainy on Friday and possibly stormy.  I just hope that it doesn't storm on my drive over to her house.  Once I am there, it can do whatever and I won't care.  Hubby is gonna stick around here unless the weather is such that he can pull the RV out for the weekend.

Outside of that, there's not much news around our front.  We had a nice Easter even though it was rainy.  We went to church and after church we stayed for the potluck dinner.  We took a ham and I made my oriental slaw.  The food was delicious and it was nice to hang out with our fellow church members who we are still getting to know.  Our preacher's little daughter is just the cutest thing.  She is four this week and looks EXACTLY like Dora the Explorer, right down to the haircut.  She seems to have everyone in the church wrapped around her little finger.  One of the young couples announced that they are expecting their first child.  I was excited for them.  They seem like such a nice couple.

I am hoping to not have to go to our other office this week.  I really don't want to be dealing with those dusty files.  I think I am going to be going to see my allergist because I just can't seem to get the drainage stopped.  I am tired of it and want him to give me something to get rid the problem.  I figure I have done as much as I can do at the urgent clinic, so now it's time and probably past time to see my specialist.

Well my friends, I'd love to hang around, but Dancing with the Stars is on so I must turn my attention to see who gets voted off tonight.  Me thinks Steve O must go!!  hehehe I made a rhyme!!

You all take care and I'll be back soon!!  Hugs to you all!

Is it really spring??

I just thought I would post that question.  I don't know about anywhere else, but around here, it is freezing cold one moment and warm the next.  I have put up an album of pics from our little March snow shower I referred to in a previous post.  The snow was so wet and heavy that hubby had to go knock some off our trees so they wouldn't be harmed.  Piper loved the snow and had great fun hopping around in it.  She wanted out more than she wanted in.

My son-in-law was supposed to be over tonight to do some work but he hasn't made it so far.  Hubby is going to have to MOVE the island.  Yep.  You read that correctly.  SIL determined that we were off by a significant number of inches in where he thought it should be, so it's gonna have to be moved.  I don't envy hubby having to do that!  But, I guess he will.

Tricia asked about my Daddy (thanks girl for asking!).  He is doing absolutely wonderful!!  He has put in a garden for the first time in many years.  He has put in tomatoes, peppers, leaf lettuce, radishes and onions so far.  He has said that he will work a little bit, then go in the house and rest a little.  So he isn't over-doing it.  He just went to a new cardiologist for a new patient check up.  All his tests were great!!  He is just perking along and happy as a little clam.  I DO miss seeing him, and I haven't been able to get over to see him lately due to my being sick.  But I do talk to him at least every other day.  I am just so thankful that he is well, happy and seeming to enjoy life right now.  What a blessing!

I will be going to our other office again tomorrow to work on the boss man's files.  I am going to wear a mask!!  I know I am gonna look like an idiot, but I know handling those old dusty files is bad for my sinuses and I JUST am starting to feel better.  So, I shall look like perhaps I am expecting an invasion of germ warfare or something.  I really don't care.  I just don't want to get sick again.

Can ya'll believe that this Sunday is Easter?  I mean....did it sneak up on anyone else or is it just me.  We will be going to church and then our church is supposed to have "dinner on the grounds" afterwards.  Only thing is, the forecast calls for rain.  So, it will most likely be dinner in the garage/office/apartment at our pastor's house.

If all goes well, I will be going to see my BFF next weekend.  We have had this planned for quite a while.  I haven't gotten to spend much time with her, so I am really looking forward to it.  We will probably do some shopping, but mostly relax and visit.

I hope everyone has a lovely Easter!  I will be back soon okie dokie?

Love ya'll!  Hugs!!

Yes, I am alive!

I just wanted to post a short note to let ya'll know I am still kicking here!  I feel a LITTLE bit better each day.  I have started taking some good vitamins and am trying to get my rest.  I am also staying out of the cold and wind as much as possible.  I thank all of you for your kind thoughts and prayers for me.  I appreciate you all SO much!

I promise to try to find time to give you a better update.  I have some pictures I want to post as well.  Till then, you all take care and remember I love ya!
