Doin' the happy dance....uh huh...uh huh....

That's me!!  I just got off the phone with Bestie and she is on her way to my house!!   Woooooofreakinhooooo!!  Her hubby is staying at home and my hubby pulled the trailer to a nearby lake earlier today, so it will just be us and the doggies!!  As soon as she gets here and I can get the doggies fed, I am taking her to my fave new Sports Bar/Restaurant for dinner.  They have GREAT food, so I think she will enjoy it.  Speaking of the hubby.  I have talked with him several times today since he got to the lake and got camp set up.  I think I have awakened him each time.  So.  No more calls until bed time so I can tell him nighty night and that I love him dearly.

Tomorrow, the decorating of the master bedroom shall commence.  If hubby hasn't taken the camera, I will get pics so I can post them.  Also, Bestie is really excited about meeting the newest member of the BBB household, Miss Piper Pissant!!  I kinda think from the way some of our prior conversations have gone, that she is bringing the baby some little gifts.  I have told her to prepare to have her heart stolen.  Piper can DO that to ya!!  One look at that sweet little face and most people are just GONERS!!

Anywho!!  I shall not be around here this weekend to visit.  But I shall give you the 411 on Sunday or Monday.  In the meantime, I hope ALL of my blog buds have a WONDERFUL weekend!!

Ya'll take care now!  Hugs to you!!

    Home for a bit...

Well, I am home today at least for a little while.  I am not sick.  The office building where I work will not have water service today whilst some work is being done on infrastructure in the area of our building.  I USED to have my own little office in our main office.  They have given THAT little office to our errand runner.  So, I went in and retrieved all the decorations I had bought for it.  I didn't ever spend MUCH time there (thank goodness!!), but when I did, I wanted to have the office look nice.  Anywho, they moved my computer to what I lovingly call the "dungeon".  It is an office tucked way back in a corner with NO windows and very few lights.  It USED to be the runner's office.  For some reason, when they moved my computer to the dungeon, they failed to hook up a keyboard to it.  So, yesterday I had this conversation with the boss:

BBB:  You know we won't have water service tomorrow.  What do you want me to do?

Boss:  Well, you could come to the main office.

BBB:  Did you realize that my computer there in the dungeon has NO keyboard??

Boss:  What's up with that??  We have dozens of keyboards up there.

BBB:  I'm not sure....I wasn't the one who moved it or set it up so I don't know what happened to the keyboard.

Boss:  (Writing a note in his infamous notepad)...Well I am going to check into that!

So, it was decided that I would not go in this morning.  However, I will be going in at 1:00 for an appointment boss set for today.  I sure hope NO ONE has to go to the bathroom!!  If they do, well they are tough out of luck because all the buildings in our square block area will be without water.

Thus, I am sitting at home.  Well, actually, I haven't been sitting.  I have loaded the dishwasher.  Taken my shower.  I have put hubby's laundry in the dryer and a load of MY  clothes in the washer.  Both dogs are just laying around chillin' enjoying having Mama home for a bit during the week.

On the bestie front.  I never heard from her last night.  I am sure her hubby told her what transpired with MY hubby yesterday.  So, I am not sure where we stand on this weekend.  I will just wait to hear from her.  If she doesn't call by tomorrow evening, I will give her a call and see what is up and if she is coming.  If she doesn't come, I think I am going to suggest to hubby that we pull the trailer somewhere for the weekend and camp!!  It is supposed to be a really nice weekend, at least until Sunday evening, when we are supposed to get some rain.  Either way, I will be doing something I love to do.  I am good with that.  I will be disappointed if BFF doesn't make it.  But if she doesn't, the next best thing will be camping with the hubby.

Oh!!!  And remember the "Seadoo" fiasco of early fall??   (For those of you who don't remember....hubby bought two used ones and neither one worked, as we so inconveniently found out AFTER their purchase and on our FIRST trip to the lake.)  Well, hubby told me yesterday that he might be able to pick them up later this week and they supposedly have NEW engines dropped in them.  I know that hubby has felt so bad about how that deal turned out.  I hope, for his sake, that those puppies are now up and running.  If not, I am NOT sure what our legal remedies would be.  Personally, being in the legal profession, I kind of think we will just have to suck it up and live with it.  So, I am crossing my fingers and toes that they now will run like they are supposed to.

I guess I best get off here and get a few more things done.  I need to run to the post office and the bank before I have to go at 1:00 to our office, with NO water service.  I guess I won't be drinking much at lunch!!  Ya know.  It could make it a LITTLE inconvenient if I did drink very much.  I'm just sayin'...

You all take care and enjoy your "hump" day!!   The weekend is in sight!!   Woooohoooo!!

    Update...

Well....bestie called last night about coming THIS weekend.  The catch??  Her hubby wants to come also.  Now keep in mind that the LAST two weekends she had to stay at home with him.  Our weekend together is just for us girls to hang out, visit, do some major decorating stuff and hang out some more.  That is something we haven't done in forever.  I have been through one of the WORST years since my divorce in 1993.  I need some time JUST with my BFF.  I told her that it was fine if he came, but for him to keep in mind that MY hubby is making himself scarce....so we can have our "girlfriend" time.....and that SHE and I are gonna be busy.  I basically was telling her I didn't want to end up with this being "his" weekend, but that he is welcome to come, with those understandings.  When I told MY hubby, he split a gear!  He was very angry saying that her hubby needs to just stay home.  Fast forward to today.  Hubs got an e-mail.  From her hubby.  He proceeded to write him back and tell him that this was a GIRLS WEEKEND just for the two of us and couldn't he just leave it at that.  Her hubby writes that he isn't coming....they have discussed it and he's sending her off on her own.  Yeah.  Uh huh!!  Last night she told me he ASKED to come.  My BFF doesn't lie!  So, we shall see.  I hope she doesn't get upset with us, but I just know how he puts the screws in ALL our plans whenever he is around.  It has got to be about HIM and I am not up for that right now.

I will keep you posted.  As they say....it ain't over till the fat lady sings....and she hasn't warbled a note yet!

    Take care all!

    NOT!!!

Yeah.....bestie did NOT get to come this weekend!  And it wasn't the weather that hindered her.  As usual, it was HER hubby who just HAD to have her stay home with him this weekend.  She thanked me for being understanding.  What's not to understand.  If she had come, she would have paid dearly because her hubby has to have his way in all things.  Sometimes I want to just shake him till his teeth rattle.  That said, I love her enough that I understand.  Anywho...hubby and I just hung out this weekend.  We didn't do any of the things we probably SHOULD have.  We watched a few movies, went to see the kids and grandkids, and got with my Daddy, two sisters and BIL for a nice lunch.  All in all, NOT a bad weekend.  Just NOT the weekend I hoped for.  Bestie says that maybe she can come this next weekend.  Let's just say that I won't be counting on it.  Until she is on the road here and well on her way, I won't bank on it.  I just don't want to be disappointed again, and chances are better than good that I will be.  But when it is your bestie....you just roll with it and love her anyway!!

I hope all my blog buds have a GREAT week!!

    Well...maybe not...

Thanks to the stupid Oklahoma weather, BFF may not be coming this weekend.  There is bad weather coming in tonight and through the early morning.  It is supposed to be warmer and not icy at least for the rest of the weekend.  BFF called and said her hubby is not wanting her to come, at least this weekend.  I told her that I didn't want her to come if the roads were bad.  I would certainly not want that.  So, we wait and see.  If the weather doesn't get bad, then she will go ahead and come.  Otherwise, we will postpone and see if maybe next weekend will work better.  I can't help but be disappointed if she doesn't get to come.  I was really looking forward to it.  Oh, well.  There's always next weekend if it doesn't happen this one!

I guess if she does not come that we will just be working around here.  Hubby is taking a day off tomorrow and is going to be tearing out old sheet rock in the dining room and replacing it with new.  Hopefully, SIL is working on my cabinets.  I am SO ready for this project to be done!!  Most of my kitchen stuff is either in the first bedroom on shelves, or out in the garage on shelves.  I have to go to one of those two places whenever I want things.  It is a REAL pain in the patootie to say the least.  So to have things all in one place once again will be really nice.

I hope everyone has a nice weekend.  I will find something to do if BFF doesn't make it.  I do need to get my cedar chest ready for her to paint.  So, perhaps that will be my project.

Anywho....you all take care and I will catch you next time!

    BFF is coming!!

I am SO excited that my BFF is coming to spend the weekend with me!!  Wooooofreakinhooo!!!  She is bringing her bag of decorating goodies and ideas and is going to help me finish the master bedroom.  I have never gotten finished with the makeover by putting things back on the walls etc.  So, that is going to be our task this weekend.  She is wanting to repaint my cedar chest which she had painted for me previously to match my old comforter and shams.  Since those are gone, she is wanting to re-do it.  However, in order to do so, I will need to sand and prime it.  Before Friday.  I am NOT sure this is going to happen.  I do know that we are going to take a print I bought for the room and get matting and a frame.  We are going to maybe make a trip to Pier*One and get some accents.  I am not sure.  We will see what she thinks of what I already have.  I truly love spending time with BFF and she is one of the most creative people I know.  She COULD have been an interior decorator.  She is a teacher instead.  She DOES do decorating on the side for select friends and family.  She does murals of all kinds...especially children's rooms.  Oh, and I have found out that in the last couple of years she has taken up photography.  I have seen some of her work and it is phenominal!!  She and her hubby do photography together for weddings and all types of events.  He does the "usual" types of shots.  Her specialty is what she calls the "artsy fartsy" stuff.  The candid type shots  also are her thing.  I am so proud to call her my friend.  She is one of the BEST people I know and I am so blessed that she is part of my life.

I can't WAIT for this weekend.  I just can't WAIT!!  She is SO excited to meet Miss Piper and is intending to take some photos of her this weekend as well.  So.....come on Friday.  Come ON Friday!!  It can't get here soon enough to suit me!!

I hope you all have a great rest of the week my friends!!

Little bits of this and that...

It has been a pretty good weekend, overall.  We really haven't done much.  Except for going to the store once and to church today, I have stayed home.  Nested is what I did.  I bought the fixings for homemade chicken noodle soup and made that and cornbread yesterday.  The Gypsy came by about 4 and spent the evening and ate with us.  I hadn't seen her since we had our annual Christmas dinner together.  I don't even remember if I told you about THAT.  I thinkI did though.  Gypsy lost her Daddy a while back (before I lost my Momma).  He was a colorful character....a sheriff at one time and a travelling preacher.  Gypsy will be the first to tell you that her father was NOT a perfect man.  He didn't always provide for his family and they were quite poor.  She says they were referred to in her hometown as "white trash."  She tells of times when she would go to bed hungry.  Many times!  Her Daddy would be gone for long periods of time and then just show up.  He'd stay for a while, then leave again.  It must have been a very difficult life for her family.  Even with those facts, she absolutely was a Daddy's girl and adored him all his life.  She forgave a multitude of his shortcomings and just loved him for the colorful person he was.  She wanted to show hubby and I the DVD her son made of the "ceremony" her family held to give her Daddy his final send off.  It seems that they had him cremated.  They took his ashes to a river that her Daddy grew up on.  They each told their memories of him.  They sang and prayed and finally scattered his ashes in the river.  The sun was sparkling like diamonds on that river.  It was just beautiful.  They did the "country" version of a 21 gun salute in honor of his service to this country.  One of Gypsy's country cousins took his multiple shot shotgun out into the river and shot it 21 times!!  They then placed a wreath of evergreens and a turkey feather into the river and watched the ripples carry it down stream.  It was a really beautiful ceremony....very moving.  Gypsy has told hubby and me and all her family that she also wants to be cremated and her ashes scattered in a similar manner.  When Gypsy went camping with us summer before last down in the area where she grew up, she, in fact, took us to the very place where she wants her ashes scattered.  It is a river that she spent much of her young adult life on.  It is a river where she took her children from the time that they were babies, on into adulthood, to play in the river.   I can honestly say that I have never been a big fan of cremation.  I just never have been.  They burn your body and fire is one thing I fear.  So it is something I don't want done to me.  That being said, I thought what they did with her Daddy was really beautiful.

Today, while I went to church, hubby set off to see our son.  He has been moved, yet again, to a correctional facility that is actually nearer to us than the last one.  We were kind of concerned when son told us they had moved him again.  This is the sixth facility he has been in since he went into the prison system.  He does NOT do well with changes usually.  However, I talked to hubby a few moments ago and he says that son found a few "buddies" from another facility he had been at, and ha actually settled in pretty well.  I will go to see him next time.  I usually don't go until we kind of know the routine and expectations for visitation at a facility.  Each one has had different procedures (like full body searches!!!!).  Anywho, I will go next time.

Well, I have dogs that are staring at me wanting to be fed.  I best get off here and get them taken care of.  Perhaps I will  write more later.

Till next time, take care everyone!

    No pictures....

Several of you had asked about pictures from our gala Friday night.  Truth is, hubby took our camera.  Did he use it....even once?  NO!!  I finally remembered to ask him yesterday if he had taken any pictures and he said no.  So I have no pics to post of the great event.  Oh well.  I still had a really good time.

It sure seems like everyone I know either has a family member or a friend or knows someone who is sick.  I talked with my sister last night and my BIL is really sick with the flu...and he even had a flu shot.  My boss is still sick.  Did he come to work today??  Well, of COURSE he did.  I am so glad I didn't have to go to THAT office today.  However, he will be in our office tomorrow afternoon.  I certainly am hoping that he is NOT contagious.  I do not want to get the crap that is going around.  I really don't.  I have blog walked and it seems like so many of my blog buds are sick too.  That is NOT a good thing.  Anywho.  If the boss is still sick tomorrow when he comes in tomorrow, I am going to be getting out my Lysol wipes and hand sanitizer.  Then, perhaps, the cold he has will pass me by.  One can only hope!  :)

This will be a busy week for sure.  I have a workout tomorrow night.  Wednesday night I think we are going to a new sports bar/restaurant and Thursday, for Valentines, we have reservations at one of my favorite restaurants.  We are going to have the most wonderful steaks.  This particular place will be packed for sure as it is one of the best in town.  The boss gives us a gift card to this restaurant each year at Christmas, and we always use it for Valentines.  We may not be able to do much this weekend because we are supposed to get snow.  Oh.....oh.....maybe I can get some pics of Piper if she pulls her "walking on the front paws" thing.

Well, I am going to cruise on outta here.  You all have a great week.  Before you blink the week will be over, so will the weekend, and it will be Monday yet again.  Oh joy!!!   hehehe

A fun time, yep, a fun time

Last night turned out to be a wonderful, fun evening.  The theme for this year was Phantom of the Opera.  The planners did a wonderful job of turning the venue into a wonderland of twinkling lights, and candelabra at every table.  I was absolutely amazed at the work these people did.  The people who attended the gala were dressed in everything from "sunday best" to lots of long, sparkly dresses and lots of bling.  Even though my boss and his wife were unable to attend, we still had a wonderful time.  Our table mates were just delightful people.  The meal was pretty good.  Ceasar salad to start, pork roast with gravy, roasted potatoes and carrots.  And a lovely cake with cream cheese type filling for dessert.  The meat could have been a little more tender to suit me, but it was tasty.   I started the evening at the open bar with a lovely white zinfandel.  Yummy!  The main patron of the gala provided a bottle of wine for each table to share, and he offered the first toast of the evening.  The wine was a red, which is NOT my favorite, but I had just a little to toast with.  The service was excellent.  This is the venue where we present awards, and present our new board of directors for the year (of which I am one).  The people who received the awards were very deserving.  It is always nice to recognize people who "go the extra mile."  Oh, they also had a live auction of some really wonderful prize packages and trips.  The funds raised will, of course, go to our organization.  There were some REALLY high rollers in the crowd (not including moi), and so I believe we probably made a good amount off of the auction.  The evening was capped off with one of my very favorite groups from this area.  They are just a wonderful group and the music they sing lends itself to dancing.  In years past, these events were boring affairs and not well attended.  Since we upped the "fun quotient" we usually pretty well sell out the venue.  The dance floor was packed.  Definite proof that the event is going in the direction we want it to.  I do have to say that I was extremely tired.  So, by the time the rest of the festivities were done, I was pretty well ready to just sit and listen for a bit, then go home.  I was pleased to see that the majority of the crowd not only was staying, but they were visiting with each other or having a drink, or dancing.  All in all, I had a really great time.  I got to see a number of people I really enjoy, I got to have a good meal, I got to have my little glass of vino, and I got to cheer on some great people who won much deserved awards.  I wish I had not been so tired.  I would have LOVED to dance.  Alas, I just didn't have it in me last night.  Suffice it to say, I am TIRED of being TIRED!!

I did sleep well last night, but had to just make myself get up and going.  I could have just laid in bed today.  However, there were things to do, places to go and people to see.  Hubby and I got out and worked in the yard getting the limbs I cut up moved to the front yard, along the road so that our county crews can pick them up and haul them off.  They should be hitting our area soon and they are only coming by once.  We also have about a rick of big pieces of wood that we hauled to a spot picked out by hubby and stacked it up in anticipation of using it for our camping trips.  We love to have ourselves a campfire.

Next on our "to do list" was to meet my favorite son-in-law at Hom* Depot.  We bought the materials he will be using to build my new cabinetry.  Wooofreakinghoooo! I am SO excited I cannot TELL you.  Of course, we walked through and looked at materials and designs and finishes.  We made some crucial decisions so he can get started.  He showed us pictures of cabinetry he just completed in a bathroom project for an upscale home.  He sure does beautiful work.  I think I am going to have a kitchen/dining room I can be proud of.

Next on the list, was for me to get cleaned up, go meet my Daddy and take him to the assisted living center's valentines party.  I received an invitation a couple of weeks ago and told him I thought we should go.  I got over there and the place was absolutely PACKED with the residents' family and friends.  They had catered in food, and had a lady who lives here in the community singing for entertainment.  I know this lady and she really is a GOOD singer and she does this for free just because she enjoys doing it.  I went and got Daddy and me plates of goodies and some drinks.  We were sitting there enjoying our treats and I looked up and there was my niece, her three kids and my sister.  My sister didn't know anything about the party.  She just happened to have made Daddy some homemade spaghetti and meatballs and brought them by.  When she and my niece couldn't find Daddy they wandered down to the great room and there we were.  I do NOT know why my sister didn't get an invitation.  They are supposed to send them to all the family and I know they have my address and both of my sisters' addresses.  Oh well, all turned out well any way.  As we were walking back to Daddy's apartment, he told me that if I hadn't come today, he probably wouldn't have gone down there.  (He never has done well in large crowds of people he doesn't know.)  So, I was very glad I had talked him into going.

This evening, I took my hubby to Fish Daddy's and treated him to dinner out.  We had a really nice meal.  He's a pretty cheap date.    hehehehe

Well, friends, I certainly hope you all are enjoying your weekend.  Oh....BTW....Piper has gained 3/4ths of a pound THIS WEEK!!  I am gonna start calling her "Butterball" if she keeps this up!!  hehehe

So I have to have a title???

Again, I have no title.  Just more ramblings....this time Tuesday night ramblings.  I had a whole blog planned about the situation with my two friends from the non-profit, kind of an update.  But I guess I am just thinking the better of that.  Suffice it to say that the whole mess has been laid squarely on my broad shoulders rather than those two individuals.  Okie dokie.  Live and learn and deal with it.  I guess that's all I'm sayin' about that.

As an update on Miss Piper.  She is growing like a tiny little weed.  At the vet's on Saturday she weighed in at a whopping THREE whole pounds.  Of course, everyone at the vet's office fell  in love with her.  She is settling into our life routine really well.  As I said before, the only time she has accidents is when WE are not paying attention.  I take her to work with me in the mornings and drop her here at home at lunch time.  She uses the training pads in the playpen while left here in the afternoons.  She just couldn't be better!  Oh,  and several of you have asked if I got pictures of Piper walking in the snow.  Unfortunately, I did not have my camera with me, so unless we get another snow soon, it will just have to be in my head.

I am feeling kind of sorry for our only outside dog.  She is really lonely since we had to put our other outside dog to sleep.  I try to get out there every evening and pet and love on her.   And I also give her some extra treats too.  She's really really a sweet little dog.

Well, I know this has been a little lame.  I am just not feeling it tonight.  I will try to write a little later this week.

I hope you all are having a good week my friends.
